Update On The Mountaineer Cup

Create: 12/20/2005 - 08:32
I reported at an earlier date on some details of Mounaineer Cup VIII. It seems some of those details have changed. Gibson Powerlifting has some of the newest information. According to Courtney Stanley, Bruce Derosier of the Atlantis Foundation will no longer be running the event. It sounds as though there may have been some philosophical differences between he and event founder Nick Busick. Additionally, Busick is back at the helm and trying to arrange for the event to be held at The Mountaineer Racetrack and Gaming Resort. There had been some reports of a New England or Las Vegas location. If you read between the lines of what Courtney Stanley says, it sounds as though there's a chance the Cup won't occur after all:

Being the trooper that Nick is, and not wanting to have a gap in the CUP Legacy, he is trying valiantly to keep this event going. I guess what I'm trying to say is, let's all have a little patience here and wish Nick and Dave well...If they can have a meet this year they WILL!!...

These are apparently Busick's working outline for the Cup:

His stated goals for this year's Cup are: Event to be held on or about the third weekend in June. Draft from qualifiers of the USPF. Any USPF full meet can be a qualifier between Cup VII and April 30, 2006. It is the responsibility of the meet director to submit totals. USPF rules of performance.

Here is the USPF page with past Mountaineer Cup results.
