This is a huge move by the USAPL. A federation that's been long known to have ambitions to take over the world of powerlifting, this move may just very well do that. For so many lifters it's not about the federation. It's about what federation allows them to lift the way they want to. For lifters who have been wanting to have a drug free environment and to be able to lift in wraps without having to labeled as equipped, this is big news. The USAPL has also created 3 more divisions. Catering to athletes with special conditions, and trans and or non-binary athletes.
Elbow lock out
Now that the USAPL isn't under the thumb of the Europeans, I'm wondering if the rules on elbow lock out have been changed to allow lifters with elbow arthritis to start competing again. Cracked me up how the state chairs would overlook the rule to get their local meets filled, but the lifter was told not to bother enteri g the national championship.
