February 1st 2020 Mathis held its annual powerlifting event and the THSWPA portion of the meet had 142 lifters! Highlights of this event began with Victoria Ruiz qualifying for regional's with a 575 lb total at only 96.8 lbs. She took top honors with Caitlyn Luarca taking 2nd with another regional qualifying total of 555. At 114 Alisha Flores, K'La Lavigne and Daniela Aguilar went tooth and nail with the outcome coming down to the last deadlifts! Alisha won with a 700, 2nd K'La- 690 and in 3rd was Daniela with 680 all qualifying for regional's. Not to forget Linda Urquieta wasnt far behind the leaders with another qualifying total of 675! At 123 there were 5 lifters qualifying with Myndi Rodriguez in 1st with 830, Lauren Garza 2nd with 760 and in 3rd was Dylan Wesselski with 735. At 132 Julianna Perez had a massive 985 pound total to over take Madison Salinas, both of which will be heading to Regional's. Amidy Moreno took the 148s with 990 and Angelica Beltran took the 165 class with 860. Desiree Gonzales had a great day going 1,020 highlighted by a 430 lb squat to win at 181! Marivel Morales hit her QT at 198 with 860 and Raschel Lerma took the 220 with 975. Danae Caro and Elia Soliz qualified as well with 900 and 860 respectively. Jackie Salazar had the biggest total of the meet with 1,085 to win at 259. Biggest squat went to Jackie with 480, Biggest bench went Desiree Gonzales (181) and Jackie with 230. The biggest deadlift was 375 and that was also Jackie Salazar.
