On 01/11/20 Calallen held their annual Asa Chambless Powerlifting Classic with 90 lifters present. In the boys division Shiv Ranchhod weighing in at 110 finished 1st his class with a 745 pound total at 123 Alex Vela took top honors with at outstanding 880 total just 70 pounds away from the state qualifying total to start his season! Julian Cadena took 1st at 132 with 875 beating his nearest rival by 90 lbs. At 148 Gavin Chapa had an impressive 1,215 total weighing in at 146. By exceeding the state qualifying total of 1,200, this guarantees Gavin a trip to the region 5 Regional's! Andrew Vasquez would have challenged but bombed with technical issues on his opening 435 squat. 165 had Mat Mora winning with 1,235 total. 181 pounder Demitri Sanchez lead his field with 1,260. Nick Lazo finished first with 1,145 at 198 in a close battle with Cody Monsevais who hit 1,130. AJ Ortega won his class with 1,280 at 220 and 242 Dylan Lageschulte won with 1,145. The 275 class was won by Cameron Roulston with the highest total of the meet at 1,550 and SHW lifter Leo Soliz won with 1,535.
The girls division had Reagan Martinez take first with 385 at 94.5 pounds and Gillian Olvera hit 425 to take first at 105 weighing 104. Juliana Vasquez totaled 690 to take the 114 class with Cailin Lopez edging out Mckenzie Estrada with 575 to 565 for 2nd place. Myndi Rodriguez squatted a big 320 at 123 and won her class with 760 total! Juliana Perez had an astounding total at 132 with 930 pounds and class leading 375 pound squat! Morgan Candela took 2nd but had a great total herself with 865, 205 pounds ahead of 3rd place. the 148 class had Adrianna Cruz in 1st with 620 and Madison Calderon took top honors at 165 with 935 capped by a big 255 pound bench press! Zoie Hartman won her class with 790. 220 pound class had Madelyn Trevino win with 465, and Andria Fierros took the 259 class with 520. Finishing the meet in first at 259+ was Emily Janssen with 540.
