2018 US Open Champ and ATWR at 165 Petkov came into the US Open to repeat as winner this time at 181. However, Kody Blazek had other plans! The squats began with Petkov taking the early lead with 727 to Blazek's 722. During the bench things flip flopped as Blazek hit 462 to Petkov's 435. When it came down to the deadlift Petkov made his 705 deadlift and Blazek missed his 738 opener due to what appeared to not have been fully locked at the top. 2nd attempts once again a flip flop occurred with this time Petkov having an issue with his pull of 749. He made it easily but lost balance at the top. Petkov then chose 771 for his third. Blazek made his 738 and also chose 771 for his third. Blazek made his 771 and set a new ATWR total with 1956.5! Petkov changed his 3rd attempt to 804 to take the win and ATWR but it was not be and Kody Blazek was victorious!
