Federico Ruiz, a 17-year-old with a very bright future in this sport, put on a show at The IPL Tribute Meet. Coming straight out of High School where he dominated the competition in the 220’s, Ruiz was invited not only due to his outstanding numbers but his young age. At 17 years old Ruiz Squatted 683 in wraps setting a USPA National Record in the 242 16-17 junior class. Ruiz also set a National record deadlifting 655. His total at 1674, set the national junior record at 242 as well, not only can he put up numbers, but his story into Powerlifting is equally as interesting. Federico started his journey into the world of strength in body building. His aspirations of bodybuilding soon turned into dreams of powerlifting. Federico’s powerlifting career began at Calallen High School, where he moved up in body weight from 198 to 220. His senior year he set multiple regional and school records in the squat and deadlift. At the THSPA State meet he made a 700 singleply squat as well! Federico Ruiz definitely has a great career set out in front of him. We should all expect the record books to be stamped with his name very soon!
