Gaglione Strength- I had the amazing opportunity to learn from Louie Simmons and the guys at Westside Barbell. This past Monday Louie showed me some really cool assistance work using the belt squat as well as the inverse curl ( a variation of the classical Russian leg curl) my posterior chain was screaming. And after all that he showed me how to perform chair Deadlifts. This is a good example of an exercise I disregarded originally because I thought it looked silly and I really didn't understand the application. It took me a few reps to get it but Louie kept drilling me until I got it right. When Louie walked with through it the light bulb turned on. This is a movement I will be experimenting with in the off season for sure. There are a lot of benefit from mobility, to back, and hip strength and it helps teach lifts to be more conscious of being upright in a sumo pull as well. I can see a lot of value in using it now after going through it in person. I think a good lesson here is sometimes we fear what we don't understand. It's easy to dismiss new ideas and concepts but why not be opened minded and try new things ? I think it's important we always strive for personal growth. As lifters and just human being we need to stop just staying in our little bubble. I have said it once and will say it again as much as powerlifting is growing we are very divided. I think we need to come together more and learn from each other. Don't be afraid to try something new. Never stop learning. Got my head in a good place and excited to push ahead with my goals !
