Posted by Kyle: "470 for triples today. Hard as fuck, but another big step forward for me. powerlifting Come November, I will be prepared to hit another big total. The responses will probably amount to: beast mode, hey-I-know-that-guy, what did you change about your training to get stronger? And all will miss the point entirely. This competition for me is a chance to get my life back. I have thrown everything into training--to a perhaps unhealthy degree--just to be functional following my divorce. I need training and competition right now, and though its therapeutic function may be a good thing for me, the end-result--the total--does not come from a good place. So if you're going to be one of the ones to write my hagiography, include the whole truth, and that is that my performance is a direct result of a lot of bad shit in my life. Training for me has always served that purpose--originally I used it to deal with social anxiety, by giving myself an excuse to never go out. I always trained, so I got really good. Many of your powerlifting heroes share this with me. Be careful of praising their strengths without acknowledging the whole truth. Many of you lead happy, balanced lives. You don't want to have the relationship I have to competition. Don't ask for it if you don't understand what it took to get here. @jaffestrength @jakexhartman @fernando_candeloro #LVLG #livelargefitness #TeamDarkside"
