Laura I love you to death but MG, you have had an awesome year!!! My vote is to MG. Handicapped? Who's handicapped it's all in your mind. HEY YOU!GET THE HELL OUT OF MY HANDICAPPED PARKING SPOT!!!

I know other lifters could have received my vote - Laura, for one, Rheta... You probably can deduce that I voted for Erica and you will think "nationalism". Well, I can live with that. But it's a bit more complicated. She could have been African, Turkish or Argentinan - I'd vote for her. My vote is because among so many great lifters, with all the difficulties I have seen her go through, she has managed to carve herself a space. I am awfully proud of this girl. I admire all you girls, greatly. You are setting examples and you are role models for our girls here. But this is not a vote for the best Wilks, and I am voting with my heart: I think Erica is my great female lifter. Maybe if you'd seen where and how she trains, you'd understand why. I am just totally tickled about this :-) My first time in this kind of poll and I am honored to be listed with so many women I have considered such great lifters myself. Good luck everyone and may we all have a great year!! I will continue to do my best to help represent the strength women proudly contribute to the sport!!

Surprise Darilyn Doddy wasn't on this list. She broke all sorts of full power and bench only WR's.385lb bench at 165 drug free!

Ellen Stein Although I am flattered to be on this list in the company of such strong women (who came up with these nominations anyway?) I really only competed once this year at the Olympia unless you count my crappy DL at RUM 3. Hardly a stellar year... Where are the likes of Becky Rich, Kat Clark, Jennifer Rey Gaudreau, Lori Steele, Maura Shuttleworth just to name a few way more deserving...

How is someone I've never even heard of beating Laura? There isn't a woman alive that's even on her level.

I don't know if this is the best video to post to explain to those of us who don't know who she is.
How is someone I've never even heard of beating Laura? There isn't a woman alive that's even on her level.
Only with gear. There are actually a couple people I bet are very close to her if she were to compete raw as there have been a few 1200-1300 raw totals this past year at 181. However, she is definitely #1 in gear right now for sure. I hope that she continues to compete in the next few years so I have somebody to compete against with gear, even if only by formula since we are in different weight classes. I think a bunch of people must ask their friends to vote on here...because I also have never heard of the girl you are referring to.

So... Its a joke? Everyone voted for her to make fun? Because she's certainly not that strong.
So... Its a joke? Everyone voted for her to make fun?
So... Its a joke? Everyone voted for her to make fun? Because she's certainly not that strong.
BWUHAHAHA... Ive been lifting forever and never heard of her. How is she even on the list? 942 votes as of today and growing. The award just loses credibility with such a landslide that comes out of the blue like this. Thats just weird... not saying her lifts arent strong... just saying shes unknown virtually and winning by an astronomical landslide. That is suspicious.
I don't think it is because it's a joke. It's because a lot of people she knows from her country (Brazil I think it said) voted for her. It's a popularity contest obviously, which is why it wouldn't matter if I totaled 3000lbs., I still wouldn't get the most votes on anything like this and don't expect to. Edit: Here is the numbers I found. She did compete at the Arnold IPF contest in 2010. She did 185kg.(407.8lbs.) squat, 132.5kg.(292.1lbs.) bench, and 182.5kg. (402.3lbs.) deadlift, for a 500kg.(1102.2lbs.) total in the 67.5kg.(148lbs.) class. She got 1st by Wilks formula. So, it is a better total than I think most of us had first thought, but considering the gear record is 1440lbs. at 148lbs., 1060lbs. raw belt only, and 1085lbs. raw belt/wraps, I'm not quite sure that this compares with most of the other lifters on the list, since it looks like she did not break any all-time records and did not come close.
Not to mention that Sioux-z Hartwig Gary won RUM3, the Arnold Raw Challenge competed at the World Games in China and the Open Women's Worlds- all high profile meets and all in one year-missing only 1 deadlift going 9 for 9 at every meet with PR's and records of all kinds. I think the PLW rankings are far more accurate than this poll. At least those #s are facts and not opinion or popularity contests

Not to mention where IS Becky Rich? She competed, and did some solid lifting. Taylar Stallings? Stella K? Guess they don't self promote like others...
