Bolton Still Reigns Supreme; Sets All Time Raw Deadlift Record

Create: 05/24/2010 - 17:24
At the Body Power Expo in Birmingham, UK this weekend Andy Bolton pulled 953 pounds/432.5kg raw at the BPC Push and Pull powerlifting competition. It is the biggest raw deadlift of all time. He also added a 617 pound/280kg bench press. To follow is a statement from Bolton to Powerlifting Watch; as well as his 953 raw deadlift video: I went to this comp not really knowing what i would be able to do,after only 6 deadlift workouts since my knee surgery in november 2009 i went there in my mind would have been happy with 900 thats why i did not use a suit i wanted to hold it back and not get hurt again,so anyway warm ups went well up to 660lb then my opener 770 then to mid 8s after this it felt so so light so i wanted pull more than anybody else out there with no suit and it felt easy 953 ,if anybody wants to take me on you know where i will be may june 2011 at the andy bolton deadlift challenge see you all if your up for it,no good making excuses later .everybody has had lots of time, lol come see me and let the games begin. -andy bolton

Andy Bolton is hands down the greates deadlifter on the planet. I give him props for inviting the challenges he will take on at his upcoming meets. The NOTLD for those smaller guys who want a pound for pound showdown. The big guys can meet him at his challenge as mentioned. If the lifters don't come and put up, then it is obvious how they really feel. This is going to be an awesome year in PL and with the new TV exposure, it is going to get huge. See you all at both of the shows!

Congratulations on showing the world AGAIN the obvious, that you rule the world in the Deadlift!!! It will be an honor to lift at the same competition, NOTLD, as you and witness you make history AGAIN. Your world! Tom Eiseman

Excellent pull. However, Konstantinovs is a very close second. Last year he pulled 426kg raw (no belt) in a full raw meet, following a 330kg squat. I am sure KK will try to respond with a higher pull and maybe Bolton's raw pull will provide additional incentive for KK to show up at Bolton's Deadlift Challenge.

He is just SICK! I hope I can make it out to his challenge to see him and so many other great deadlifters in person.

Having trained with Bolton I can tell you when his pull looks like that there is more left in the tank! He looked (to me) smaller than he normally is on competition day too so he will be smashing more records next time he is at full strength!

Hopefully i will upload the rest of the show asap some of it is already on Facebook but Youtube is messing around. Andy's deadlift was even more amazing considering the heat and lack of warmup area not to mention he only intended bench pressing that day . www.hirepgym.com

Great pull Andy. That other guy with the initials should not even be mentioned in the thread. Andy is the KING! And for the love of all the is holy, let's stop with any nonsense about a belt. AtLargeNutrition EliteFTS

I think Bolton should go raw at the NotLD and see what he can get. He definately had 975 in him in this meet, so maybe a grand raw?

ANDY BOLTON HAS GOT TO BE REMEMBERED NOT ONLY AS THE GREATEST DEADLIFTER OF ALL TIME FOR HIS ACHIEVMENTS BUT ONE OF THE GREATS OF POWERLIFTING ERA. TO DEADLIFT THAT WEIGHT RAW AFTER KNEE SURGERY AND ONLY 4WEEKS TRAINING LIGHT IS.....BLOODY AMAZING. HIS OWN ALL TIME DEADLIFT RECORD WILL GO NEXT MONTH AT THAT DEADLIFT COMP HE'S DOING, CANT WAIT TO SEE WHAT HE PULLS THEN MAYBE 460KG,465KG

Well Andy Bolton is an amazing athlete. But Raw means without Belt in my Opionion. Konstantion Konstantinov is the only guy who practices a real raw lift. A Belt helps you a lot. So this was an amazing deadlift but not a raw deadlift
