American Powerlifting Association (APA)

APA LogoThe American Powerlifting Association was established in 1987. The APA offers bench, deadlift, push/pull, strict curl and full powerlifting meets. You'll find APA meets all across the country. The international arm of the APA is the World Powerlifting Alliance (WPA). Drug Testing Meets include drug tested divisions as well as untested ones. Equipment The APA has an unlimited division, equipped division, and raw division. In the unlimited division, there are no restrictions on equipment. In the equipped division, up to double ply lifting suits and shirts are allowed. Canvas and denim lifting suits are not legal. Bench shirts in polyester or denim including velcro and open back shirts are allowed. Standard length groove briefs are fine. As are knee wraps up to 3.5 m. In the raw division, knee and wrist wraps are allowed.
