powerlifting Tom Martin So here is a deadlift I am very proud of, given the circumstances in fact it was the best deadlift I have ever done. It was performed under a lot of pressure, to round off a perfect competition with the intent to claim the biggest total ever performed in Britain. My official total of 1000kg this competition was the peak of my last 15 years of effort, everything I have worked towards, had surgery for, built and ruined relationships over, the constant sacrifices to my physical and mental health were all for this moment. I could go on, but to summarise this has quite literally been my life, with no compromise ever made. To say it meant a lot would be a massive understatement. Unfortunately I was capable of 12.5kg more, which ruined this moment for me. I exceeded my target with this lift, and executed it within the rules of the sport to the best of my ability, but it was unfortunately deemed to be an unsuccessful attempt for reasons only the 2 referees who red lighted it could see. I've provided a lot of angles to watch this from, because I stand by this deadlift as the best I have ever done and will be proud of it whatever the result sheet says. I have to get this off my chest before I can move on, but now I will and total 1050kg next year.
