Ashton Rouska Takes The 93 KG: Raw Nationals

20 yr old Ashton was in the thick of it at Raw nationals competing against the likes of legendary Dave Ricks and the powerful LS McClain. Ashton took the squats with 672 lbs to McClain's 661 and this is where Ricks had his issues only getting his opening squat of 644. Ricks, well known for his 700+ squats was now trailing behind. During the bench portion, McClain shined through with a big 485 pound attempt to Ashton's "normal" 402 bench. Ricks gained some ground back with a 457 lift. As they say, the meet don't start till the bar hits floor couldn't have been more true! Ricks opened first with 617 followed by McClain with 639. Ashton, now had his chance and began his pulls with 705 and waited. No one missed, Ricks jumped to 650 and McClain to 666 while Ashton went to 738. At this point with only one lift to go McClain was at 1,813 to Ashton's 1,813 with Ashton weighing almost 2 kilos less. Ricks was now out of range with 1,752. On the last lifts Ashton did what most lifters would do and simply took what he needed to win and made the necessary 777 to win on bodyweight with an 1,851 total for both McClain and Ashton Rouska..Dave Ricks finished his day with 1,774. A great win for such a young man!
