New NASA Aligned Forum

NASA sympathizers have started a new forum which is purported to counter the views expressed here at Powerlifting Watch. The first post at the new forum implies the Top Hogs may be racists and questions whether they left NASA because of that racism.

Here's the post:

Were sore losers racist?

I recently read on several different internet forums where a team of lifters were sore losers and left their federation when their egos were bruised.

I just got my copy of Powerlifting USA and I see that except for one of their team that placed higher in the curl(by the way curls are for girls) and one who placed higher in the total, almost their entire team was beat by 2 black lifters.

I have read that they left their federation for this reason, or for that reason. But does anybody think they might just be a bunch of Southern racists who couldn't stand to be beat by a couple of Brothrs?

Jim Hoskinson On His Masters Nationals Bombout

Jim Hoskinson, 308, talks about his inability to get a squat in at last weekend's APF Masters Nationals and his plans going forward in his EliteFTS training log.

I bombed because I had no business on that platform. I failed myself and TeamEliteFTS. The reason doesn’t really matter. What does matter is what happened. There are reasons and results in life. REASONS DON’T COUNT!

I bombed in the squat. I did not bomb because I wasn’t strong enough, or not skilled enough. I have trained hard and smart. I picked my opener conservativetely and had a plan. I bombed by not performing my lift like I have trained. I went back to old habits and didn’t hit depth by letting the equipment control me. Therefore, I bombed because on this day I was mentally weak. I let circumstances outside of powerlifting in my life distract me and win the battle. I chose to stick to my commitment to doing this meet. I did this because I believe you can not quit on a commitment. I have no excuse as to my mental breakdown and deserve exactly what I got. Even my warm ups did not go as usual. The judging in the meet was good. The facts are I sucked, I bombed, end of story.

100% RAW Polls Lifters On Knee Sleeves & Wrist Wraps

100% RAW President Paul Bossi is polling lifters on whether they would be in favor of allowing knee sleeves and wrist wraps in federation competitions. RAW does not currently allow either.

In 2006, polling to allow knee and wrist wraps showed very little support. If the federation were to adopt these equipment rules, they would be only the second in the nation to do so (the USAPL has adopted the same standards). In fact, 100% RAW was instrumental in developing the Raw classification standards, which does not allow either.

Traditional News Covers Top Hogs Move From NASA

Sean Ingram, Sports Editor of The Courier newspaper in Russellville, Arkansas has written an article about Jamie McDougal and his powerlifting team, the Top Hogs, and their departure from NASA and move to the SPF over drug testing issues surrounding the Pro Powersports Championship.

From the article, "Doing the right thing":

Little did they know asking a question during the Pro Power Sports Nationals — where Jamie McDougal (above) won $1,000 and the overall championship, and five Top Hogs finished in the top 10 — would cause enough turmoil that they were forced to compete in another association, but became a closer team in the process.

Born To Lift

Saturday, April 19, at the IPF São Paulo State Powerlifting Championship, the Brazilian powerlifting community experienced a moment expected for many years: Kellen Larissa “Lala” Souza’s first official championship. Lala is a 14 year old girl who grew up among powerlifters, bars and disks. She is powerlifter Eumenes “Mendinho” Leite’s only daughter and powerlifter and fitness athlete Judy Delago’s stepdaughter. Many who were screaming her name as she squatted, pressed and pulled that Saturday, one day held her on their arms. It was one of those days that will never be forgotten.

Lala’s debut was not only remarkable for her history and the general love shared by the community for this cute smiling girl, but for her impressive marks. At the 90kg+ category and being only 14 years old, she did a 170kg squat (national record), a 76kg bench press (national record) and a 130kg deadlift.

Watch her video:
