Finland's Jani Murtomaki at WABDL Worlds

Finland's Jani Murtomaki, shw, bench pressed 804 and deadlifted 760 pounds at the WABDL World Championships which were held last week in Las Vegas, Nevada. He went on to miss a bench press of 859 pounds and a deadlift of 804 pounds. Murtomaki reportedly lifted in a single ply IPF approved Super Katana. Here is video of his lifts.

Nice lifting from Jani, he is quite a big name here in finnish powerlifting seen and it is nice to see that Jani is recovered from injuries he's been havin', thanks for posting the videos.

Not everything from those videos are for kids to hear, you can learn about half of the finnish language swearwords from them :)

The 804 BP looked real good to me, even though the vid quality was barely adequate. Good pause and held at the lockout.

Because the Super Katana is basically a double ply shirt.

You are mistaken. The Super Katana is NOT two ply. Also, it is not two plys laminated together. It is IPF approved, but who cares?

I don't think he ever was a part owner of Metal. He just lived near Ano and was a member of Team Metal. Then he moved to another city and hooked up with Sakari Selkäinaho, who happens to be Titan dealer...

Jani was drug tested, along with a number of other lifters with high coefficients. Test results take a while to come back. We assume a lifter to be drug free until tests prove otherwise.

How many lifters were tested?

I'll find out the number that were tested. I don't know the number for sure as I was not there on every day of the meet and there were lifters tested on every day. I believe eight lifters were selected on Saturday, which was the day I lifted. But I'll find out the total number for everyone.

How many lifters were tested?

Why do you think swedish powerlifters choose WABDL over Swedish Powerlifting Federation when that decision generates expensive costs for trips over sea and hotel rooms? I think it's because of the extensive drug testing in Sweden!
