IPF Congress Minutes
Submitted by Staff on November 20, 2008 - 9:29am.
The IPF has published the minutes (pdf) from the 2008 Congress meeting which was held on November 2 in St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada.
Action on a number of proposals appear which had not already been reported on or appeared in the updated Technical Rulebook.
A proposal by the Athletes Commission to keep the same judges for all groups if a category consists of more than one group, and only change judges between lifts, failed. Its purpose was to ensure that all lifters have the same referees for the same lift.
By-Law proposal 6 to raise IPF fees passed. It reads: "The participating national federations shall pay a drug test fee of EUR 50 for each lifter entered and declared at the Technical Meeting prior to the championships. If a national federation is not represented at the Technical Meeting, then a fee is required for all lifters nominated and entered on the final entry form."
In addition, participation fees will be raised from 15EUR to 30EUR per lifter for each lifter entered and taking part in any World Championships. The amount paid to the promoter would be changed from 50% to 10EUR.
The reason cited for the raise is to finance liability and indemnity insurance.
