WUAP Annual Meeting Report

The WUAP has issued a report (pdf) on the outcome of its Annual Governing Meeting. The AGM was held on October 3 in conjunction with its World Championships in Lauchhammer, Germany. Present were Austria, Czechia, France, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, the Ukraine, and the U.S. Absent were Hungary, Italy, Russia, Serbia, and Switzerland.

Two new measures were approved. The first was in regards to bench shirts. Shirts now may have an open collar and velcro straps. However, they will be required to have "a fabric panel which covers the lifters back so that no skin is exposed to touch the bench."

The second approved measure extends morning weigh-ins from 30 minutes to 60 minutes, or even 90 minutes, when nessesary.

The 2009 World Championships will be in St. Avold, France. In 2010, they move to Slovakia. The U.S. has a bid in for 2011.
