Jay Fry Benches 740 Lbs
Submitted by Staff on November 10, 2008 - 9:07am.
Jay Fry, 220, bench pressed 740 pounds yesterday at the UPA Battle of the Benchpress II in Circleville, Ohio. That's the twelfth highest bench press in history at 220. He hit the lift on his first attempt, then missed two subsequent attempts at 755 pounds. Fry decided not cut to his usual weight class of 181 for this meet, weighing in at 202 pounds. Fry holds the 181 class bench press record of 725 pounds.
At the same meet, Fry's fiancee Jean Forgatsch benched 240 pounds, setting a UPA Junior Record. Fry and Forgatsch both train at Westside Barbell. They will be married on September 12, 2009.
