Dang! No spotter, Sinead O Connor, good depth

Dude - you're a freakin' freak

Jamey

Dude's gonna need to do a little better than that if he wants the gold.

I'm kidding. He is awsome.

Watch that video and you will learn how to properly handle 900 with a very whippy bar. I'm definately taking some pointers on how you walked that out.

Wow. Bar whip, Sinead, no spotters and a shaky squat rack and it was easy! Great control. Nicely done.

Awesome squatting!

sinead o'connor,WTF i reckon mike could squat a grand with a good lowd hit of THUNDERSTRUCK

nice...loved the ipf approved music too

I have competed APF before. I have a monolift setup in my squat rack that I like to use. I am competing usapl in another 8 weeks though and am getting worried about the walkout part.

Damn---keep up the good work!! Thats awesome.

I don't know why nobody likes Sinead! I saw you bobble a little bit when she started singing Mike! Just kidding, you are awesome!!!

Ryan, don't sweat the walkout. Just lower your opener a bit over what you would monolift and practice like Mike did his- you'll be fine! Mike really did just put on a clinic for all of us!

Just incredible strength...Go get the GOLD Mike!

I agree Ryan, the walkout is an issue, but most of us who are average lifters can walk out 500, 600 lbs, up to 700 lbs. with no real problems. Once you are handling the kind of weight that Mike is, then yes, bar whip and just the sheer weight on your back makes it hard to walk out the weight.

OH yeah, Mike, is that a local gym your training at, or does your AFB have a fitness facility? Just curious. Go kill the competition at worlds.

The base does have a gym, but this is the YMCA downtown. MUCH better than the AF gym for powerlifters. As soon as I get my power rack, I should be good to start training in my garage for the most part. It's going to be much more convenient than driving to the Y.

Mike T is the freakin man! as soon as I found out about your RTS manual I ordered it right away. It's great!

Will you be uploading training videos more frequently once you start training in your garage?

Hard to say. I can try if its something folks are interested in. If there was a way to easily edit them down so I could put a week of training into one clip, that would be cool. Someone said Quicktime Pro since my camera records in .MOV format... I might have to look into that.

Personally I'd love to see more training videos from you. I know at least a few more who would feel the same and I'm talking to another person who is showing interest in RTS. I'm not sure about quicktime pro or anything since I'm not a computer whiz, but I use windows movie maker for my video editing. I'm not sure if you can import .mov files into it or not. Either way, I'm looking forward to more training videos from you.

Big Mike, awesome squatting as usual, but what kind of bar is that? Man, that thing looks like it could snap at any moment. Whew!!

nice squatting. Get a brain and a spot though. One mis-step or bobble and you are done my friend. even if it is a couple of nobodys at the gym, still could save your life.

I think he understands that. His training style is his own, the man graduated from the Air Force Academy, I'm pretty sure he's a smart enough guy and he has his reasons for squatting alone.

No need to be discourteous to each other. We're all brothers in Iron.

I don't get spotters because I set the pins in the rack at such a point that if anything did go wrong, I can just dump it on the pins. In my experience, that's served me better than inexperienced spotters. I've had to dump some pretty heavy weights before and it all turned out fine using this method. The only difference here is there's a little more weight on the bar. IMO, me squatting at 90% is not much more dangerous than some other guy squatting at 90% regardless of the bar weight difference.

And Jeff... It's one of the newer Texas Power Bars. Or at least that's what they tell me.

Yes we are brothers in iron mike But what are the pins going to do if your suit leg blows and you get launched into the front of power rack and have your hands crushed? Just looking out. Not smart.

do what you wish but it isnt the same when you talk about what a bar loaded up with 900 going awry or what it would do to a hand compared to a average joe dumping with 225.

What's an inexperienced spotter going to do? That would just get 3+ people hurt rather than 1. 900lbs is definitely a lot deadlier than 225 but I don't think Mike wants to risk getting inexperienced spotters hurt if something goes bad.

Mike, I am just curious since I have not seen the question asked on any of your other posts. Has the IPF done an out of competition test on you yet? I know you will be tested after you destroy the competition at worlds, but have they gotten you ahead of time?

I belive that Mike has been both OMTed and tested by the Air Force Academy.

I want to dispell a myth. In no way am I insinuating anything of Mike, I think the guy is natural, but please quit with the service testing guys for juice. THEY DON'T! Unless it is command dictated and they have reason to believe and strong evidence you are juicing. Most of the time they could care less anyways, unless you do something stupid. I just get tired of people assuming someone is juice free because they are drug tested in the service. The services test for recreational drugs not juice. Like I said, I have no reason to beleive Mike is not natural, but I am just trying to dispose of this myth, that comes up from time to time on here.

lol@ how EASY that was!!! WTF!

... does a Superman costume qualify as a one piece lifting suit? What if it says Titan in the upper corner of the chest?

I say wear it and sign autographs to all the little kids after the meet. They won't even know the difference... lol

Putt Houston.... now with more Bom Chicka Wahwahhhhhh
