GPC Worlds Full Results

Full results (Overall, full power and bench only - pdf) are posted for the GPC World Championships which were held September 8-12 in Warwickshire, England.

Finland swept the team awards, winning both the powerlifting and bench press events. Ireland finished second and the Czech Republic third in the powerlifting competition. Great Britain finished fourth.

In the bench press competition, Azerbaijan earned silver and France bronze. Great Britain was fifth.

Finland's Jonas Rantanen, 308, won powerlifting best lifter honors with his 2,617 pound total. France's Sabine Guillaume received the best female lifter award. Guillaume, 105, totalled 782 pounds.

American Edward Dudley-Robey placed third at 165 in the bench only competition with a 407 pound press. He missed two attempts at 440 pounds which would have given him the win.

At 181, Brits Steve Read and Robert Trusscott finished second and third, each pressing 286 pounds.

Great Britain's Graig Heartwell was unable to get a bench press in the 220 pound class, missing his opener at 462 and two attempts at 484 pounds.

Brit Lee Alberts won the bronze at 275 with his 573 pound bench press. Finland's Jani Ihalainen won the class with a 666 pound effort.

Finland's Jonas Rantanen won the 308 class and hit the biggest bench press of the meet with a 771 pound press. The effort earned him the best lifter award. Rantanen missed his opener at 749 pounds, then missed his second at 771 pounds, before hitting the lift on his third. He then missed a fourth attempt of 794 pounds.

The sole superheavyweight competitor, Finland's Kari Kalliola, was unable to get a lift in, missing on three attempts at 815 pounds.

Best female bencher honors went to Slovakia's Dagmar Liptakova, 132, for her 248 pound press.
