Congrats Jason , must be nice to smash all time records and know even bigger things are to come!

wouldnt have pressed the white light for that.
not taken at arms length but think that is accepted in APF.
but not locked out or controlled at top either.

Is that the right video? I don't understand, he didn't finish the lift??

hmmmmmmmm.....um no lift!

congrats Jason, very nicely done. I was still totally shocked at how lean you looked ;-)

Lean??? if you call weighing 223 lean :)

I wish poeple would stop judging lifts based on the videos posted!!!!
Videos never do the lifts justice.

I have a great idea!!! How about we use instant replay to judge lifts from now on. Every lifter gets to use it once kinda like football. and also each lifter gets to challenge other lifters lifts too. that would make meets last forever, but there wouldn't be any bullshit lifts anymore.

what do you think???

Why don't we just get rid of the bullshit judges and tighten the rules so people didn't continually stretch the rules every single meet.

I would like to hear what Coker has to say. Not taking anything away from him the record is now his.

But I would like to hear what he thought about the lift. I know I've had some passed that prolly should not of been but never a All Time lift.

Just curious as to what he thinks? I know he is pretty critical about his lifts.

Again though Congrats and it still blows my mind how you all manipulate your bodyweight and still stay storong as hell.

How in the hell did he go fromn 181 to 223 in 1 day?

It's possible. he's a pro at what he does. that's why he's the best.

The seriously got passed?

not one bit locked, what so ever!

that is sick! nice lift

Let me undertsand this right. He went from 181 to 223????? So technically he didnt bench this at 181? If I am wrong in this understanding, sorry BUT if I am right HOW THE HECK IS THIS A 181 LIFT????

dude, are you that nieve and gullable?

Hardly anyone lifts at a weight that is over what they walk around. It's only intelligent to take advantage of weight loosing capabilities to lift at a weight that is reachable because of the benefits of the time frame between weigh in and lifting.

This is seriously new to you? where the hell have you been living....

You know the saying, "Too many chiefs, not enough Indians?" Well, essentially it means that people who aren't in charge or properly qualified try to step up because of ego issues or whatever it is, and they are out of place. Trying to internet judge lifts critically is what I would like to classify as "peacocking." It's when a little bird spreads its big, flashy feathers to look cool, but it's still a little bird. Not a big lifter, and not the judge. Until the Anonymous peacocks have names, and can make records of their own, I would recommend just shutting up, instead of continually looking like infantile morons.

There is nothing technical about it. You can weigh in 24 hours before the meet (normal for most powerlifting meets). Jason weighed in at or below 181 the day before the meet. Hence this being a 181 record. What he weighed the day of the meet is not considered.

Wolfy, as for the lift, a person knows when a lift is locked out and I know mine was. As for the hand off, I started the lift as soon as Tony realised the bar. Trust me if I did not feel that it was a good lift I would be the first to say so and would not accept it. I AM VERY CRITICAL OF MY LIFTS! And to the idiot above who obviously doesn't know a thing about powerlifting or cutting weight you should probably just get off this forum and try to read powerlifting for dummies!

seriously get off my computer

Yeah, some people really need to get a clue. There are many many lifters(in a 24 hr weigh-in) that put tons of weight back on. I personally know one that goes from 181 to 206 over night. Sodium load, deplete then load. Nice lifting.

Amen on the comment about video! Nicely said, Jay! If you notice, almost no one does anything considered legit anymore, even Brian Siders in the squat, if you believe the internet judges! I mean, in Siders case, the guy gets these superstrong lifts passed in THE IPF, but the internet jury seems to think they know better! Pretty arrogant, really, to assume that your watching a video makes you qualified to overturn the opinion of someone who's qualified to judhe sitting a few feet away from where the lift was done.

first off, thats just stupid competing at 181 weighing 223. Not even for the fact of the weight class, but think of how much stress your heart and cardiovascular system goes through with sodium loading/depleting whatever. second the bench wasnt locked at all, its funny cause when the spotters go to rack it his arms magically straighten a little more. The APF has become a clownshow, nothing more. Wonder if they sell popcorn there and have bearded ladies

Yeah because this a health and wellness kind of sport.

ummmm so just because your a powerlifter, that means automatically a free ticket to an unhealthy lifestyle? Hmmmm, i guess when i signed up for powerlifting i shoulda read the fine print on the contract saying that id have to be a disgusting unhealthy pig huh? Sorry i missed that one, im perfectly happy eating oatmeal, egg whites and some fruit for breakfast rather than a 6 mcdonalds sausage mcmuffins and a milk shake!?!?!?!?!
Anyway, i dont know i mean respect for handling the weight, but setting a 181 lb record weighing in at 223 IMO is just absolutely ridiculous...they really should start records over for the new era of powerlifting because no way in hell you can compare someone like coker to mike bridges or ed coan who competed in the 181 class weighing 179 lbs...
If it were up to me id have 2 hour weigh in records and 24 hour weigh in records, because thats 3 weight classes climbed up over night and thats just ridiculous

WTF!!!!!!!

Nothing against coker, but that head judge should be banned for life from judging. The kid was still in the process of locking out the barbell when he got the rack command!

Don't be jealous just because you don't have the motivation or dedication to drop weight. The knowledge is out there for dropping and gaining weight and it isn't as easy as you may think. Until you know what it takes I suggest you stop making up excuses for your lack of knowledge, effort, skill, and genetics.

Nice lift Coker!!

lol, you know how off audio is on some youtube videos?

Its not a 181 lifting this weight is a 220. But if you weigh 181 for the 5 seconds it takes to weigh you in then the record sheet says you are 181. Thats the rules. Stupid, yes, but that's the rules in feds without same day weigh ins. Same goes for other sports like MMA, boxing, wrestling, or other sports with weight classes. Its all fair in the rules of the fed/sport.

that lift looked pretty pitiful. he never took the bar at arms length. the handoff man still had his hands on the bar while he was on his way down. he never came close to locking out the weight. he should not have been given whites on that lift.

Nice work Coker! Congrats on the record!

No lift obviousley a soft hand off which is not allowed in the APF even if the weak judges keep ignoring it. Jason is a true stub, however this you can
t give him...the rules need to be followed or the APF will never get it's good reputaion back.

I have always said I would never accept a gift and I NEVER will. I was once beat in Dallas by someone who's lifts should have never counted and it sucks! I knew the lift was not one of my better ones but I thought it was legal however after watching the video over and over again Im not happy with it. At this time I am declining the lift. I wasn't happy with 771 anyway I would have been just as happy bombing as I am good for over 800@ 181. Jon you have my email so you can email me to verify that this is really me. I dont know who else I need to talk to to make sure this doesn't go in the books so maybe you can help me with that also. Fry the record is still yours but enjoy it while it lasts.LOL Im going 181 again and will hit over 800. To all the Anon cowards, dont think your cowardly posts had anything to do with this decision. I just know that I am a far better lifter than I was on Saturday.

Jason Coker

Jason Coker,

You my friend just earned a ton more respect from me. I had alot for you to begin with and you just added a shitload more.

Now shut them up and DO IT RIGHT THIS TIME!!!

Go get that 800 :)

That is the right thing to do...and things like this can help the APF regain some respect in the PL community..You are commendale for this...but, don't say anyone is cowardly they have just called it like they see it, and by your own admission these annon posters are correct.

Why is it important to put their name, they will just get torn apart by the so called elite lifters who want gifts from the judges.

Hopeful others will follow your example and we can get back to have high standards, there are many "world records" that have been done in the last couple of years that should have been turned down by the lifters, but let me say this...I'm sure I would want to keep my gift too...so who am I to bag on anyone else.

Jason Coker

Well, what you just did takes balls!! Now all the Anons are going to expect this type of thing everytime they declare a lift no good do to watching a video at a questionable angle...

Jason, I thought the lift was good, and the camera angle was just poor.... IT sucks cause I don't want the record back under these circumstances.

I'm begining to loose faith in you lately, I hear you talk about smashing the record and all I've seen so far is you not making weight and then declining your 771:) Just kidding, but keep training hard at BIG IRON, third times a charm!

jay fry

I've got one more thing to say. For anyone taking videos of lifts please find the best angle to videotape, so there is no doubt about what is being watched. No matter if it's a world record or not.

I would like to know what angles are the best to video tape on each lift?????

please let me know so this can spread and everyone will try to be consistant from now on.

Jay frypadge

just so everyone knows jason did not decline the lift because of the anonymous posts. he was up all night watching the video. he did lock it out. he just felt he could have started the lift at arms length. he actually would have rathered bombed then not hit the 804. the guy would run over a baby in his car and drive off but couldnt sleep thinking he got credit for a lift he didnt deserve...weird as far as im concerned the lift was good..... and he needs to stay off of my computer...

Brad,

You can't leave that guy home alone anymore!

well somebody's got a shitload of integrity, and thissort of respect for the rules is exactly what this sport needs more of. . that lift looked very strong coker, now go out and get your 800 next time.

Jay's right. No more girls are allowed to shoot the video anymore. :)

How about no angles? it isa a weight lifting contest,
not a moving directing class. Those judges are paid money and cost some one a bunch, expenses, gas, hotel plus monry in the pocket, so let thewm do there job and you TRY to lift weights. You guys are what makes this sport look bad. I know hire is freaking Japanese to come over and video, they know there angles.

It looked good to me bro.
