Texas APF State Chairman Change

APF President Garry Frank and WPC owner Kieran Kidder announce that Gary Pendergrass has stepped down as the Texas state chair for the APF. Pendergrass will be replaced by APF Vice President Mike McDaniel on an interim basis. Pendergrass was one of the most prolific meet directors in the entire country.

Frank & Kidder, "Effective 09/05/08 Gary Pendergrass has chosen to step down as the Texas APF State Chair to pursue other business interests. We thank Gary for his hard work in a powerlifting leadership role dating back to 1994. His efforts resulted in significant growth in multiple federations, positive experiences for thousands of lifters, and significant overall improvement in our sport. We wish Gary and Susan the best in their future endeavors.

In the interim Mike McDaniel will act as APF Texas State Chair, co-promoting meets with Garry Frank."

Good luck Gary on your future endeavers. I know Texas powerlifting is in good hands with Mike and Garry.

Yes, Gary is out of Powerlifting altogether for the foreseeable future. Out of regard for Gary, and from a selfish standpoint being friends with Gary and enjoying his involvement, I hope to see him back in the sport in any capacity somewhere down the road. There's nothing at this point though that indicates that might happen.

Best to all,

Mike: Anything we can do to put the APF on an upward swing in the DFW area?
I'd love to see the meets like they had when the Texas Classic, Texas Cup, and Texas Grand were BIG!!

For those of you that are friends with Gary Pendergrass: Can someone please help me get a hold of him. I ordered some equipment from him back at the beginning of July. I paid a good size deposit, but now can't contact him via email or his cell. Thanks for you help.

Jason, if you'll send your contact information to me at txapf@sbcglobal.net I'll ensure Gary gets your message and contact info. to follow up with you. I have no control as to whether he will.

Thanks for your assistance Mike. I tried a couple of times to send you an email, but they both bounced back for some reason. Please ask Gary to contact me at jason@fiscalrealities.com or (250) 851-0780. Thanks.

That's funny Jason, I bought a bench off him and he sent me the wrong color, and specs and missing bolts and torn bench cover and blah blah blah. I tried e-mailing him everyday and I left messages for him on his answering machine 50 times with no response. I'm starting to get real angry with the dude....

I will guarantee you he won't return your calls either... not if my exhaustive efforts to contact him have ended up in complete failure.

Putt Houston.... now with more Bom Chicka Wahwahhhhhh

I hear you. But, I don't think it's funny. I don't think Gary gets it. People count on him, and they give him their hard earned money. In my case, I saved for years to build my garage gym. This summer I built a 28x24 garage in my back yard. I spent all my weekends and vacation days working on it. I laid down a big deposit with Gary, but now the building just sits there, empty.

seguin fitness. thats where he's based out of. if I spent that much money with him. you can bet your bottom dollar, I would be at the front desk speaking to him in person

Gary had Texas Cup on the schedule for November 1 in Plano. I don't know if that's considred DFW area or not. To avoid trying to manage too much change at once I finalized the contract with the meet hotel today and sent the entry form top Amy to post by Monday on the WPC website. There is a group of lifters at a solid powerlifting gym in Dallas that have expressed an interest in putting on a meet. I expect they'll have an opportunity next year.

More later,
mike mcd

Thank you Mr. McDaniel. I just sent you an e-mail
