Ryan Celli breaks USPF BP Record

Ryan Celli, 220, broke the, just four week old, USPF single lift American Bench Press Record yesterday at the American Record Breakers in New Martinsville, West Virginia. Celli bench pressed 639 pounds to outdo Ryan Girard's 633 pound press. Chris Confessore's 220 class bench press record had stood from 1991 until June of 2008. Now the record has been broken three times in under two month. Scott Rowe initially broke it on June 28. Celli also holds the 198 class USPF Bench Press Record of 622 pounds.

Celli went on to deadlift 661 pounds, with a third attempt miss at 711 pounds.

Not only setting the record, but also helped/coached everyone from the gym as well. And there were quite a few.

Sorry Ryan G.! haha. I'm sure you won't let this stand for too long! I just didn't feel like cutting for this one, and weighed 211 the morning of.

As for the deadlift, That's the 3rd time i've missed 711 in a competition...it was the closest i've gotten it, just short of lock out! arrgg.

We had 9 lifters including myself compete. We should have some pictures up this week. Congrats to everyone. Celli's Fitness Center
