OCT Tests take place in Russia

Nick Zhukov reports that out of competition testing is occurring in the Russian IPF affiliate, RPF. The RPF has been suspended from international and regional competition twice in the last couple of years for repeated doping violations. In order to come off of suspension, the IPF has made both national and international OCT testing one of the requirements for the country.

Zhukov says that on Monday, just two days before the opening of the RPF Russian Cup, a number of lifters at MAI Gym were tested. Critics will argue that due to the timing, that testing was not truly out of competition. If the IPF determines that the RPF has fulfilled the terms of their suspension, the federation will again be eligible for international and regional competitions beginning on August 31.

This is more of the same rediculous behavior by the RPF that will probably go unpunished. OCT's are not intended to be done at the meet site 2 days before lifting starts. The fact that these tests are even represented as OCT's is an insult to the intelligence of the rest of the powerlifting world. The entire purpose of an OCT is to keep lifters from staying jacked-up all throughout their training and simply cleaning up when they arrive at meets. I'm sure that certain Russian supporters will come back at this with arguments of American lifters also taking drugs and the fact that Russians are stronger because of their training. Both of these have some truth to them. But, it's a fact that even the Russian lifters who have failed drug tests in the past aren't subjected to nearly the same testing protocol that American lifters are. In my opinion, 2 of the top 3 lifters in the world are Russians. Fedosienko at 123 and Belyaev at 198 have both failed tests and continue to come back stronger each time they compete. Where are the records of OCT on these guys? I can't understand why the IPF would accept the testing procedures of the RPF when they won't test their 2 best lifters more than 2 days out from the Russian Cup.

OCT to make sure they are clean for the meet, while they stay jacked up the rest of the year getting stronger than ever.

When did Belyaev fail a test?

World championship 2003 in Denmark. 900kg in 82.5kg class.

The RPF is fucking ridiculous and corrupt.

Out of competition testing? MY ARSE!!!

The post on Go Heavy says it was WADA testers not the Russian federation.

"today WADA-people came to MAI-Gym and took a samples for Doping-tests from the lifters who is a members of Moscow region team."

Diuretics and masking agents are prohibited. Fedorenko's bust last year was for a dieuretic (http://www.powerlifting-ipf.com/anti%20doping/Press_Release_Suspension_RPF.pdf).

Sounds like a reasonble plan to catch athletes using them to cut weight or mask other prohibited agents.

Very good point Joe. There are a few possiblities for that timing.

Big Joke, that's all it is.

it was a WADA officials.

and it's only few words from me in our talk about " only americans are clean, and all the lifters from Eastern Europe is a doping-cheaters"

Fedosienko was catched for diuretics then he try to drop his bodyweight before the competitions.

Today he is in his most comfort weight division, so you're never got a chance to disqualification of Fedosienko again
