OCT Tests take place in Russia
Submitted by Staff on August 22, 2008 - 8:17am.
Nick Zhukov reports that out of competition testing is occurring in the Russian IPF affiliate, RPF. The RPF has been suspended from international and regional competition twice in the last couple of years for repeated doping violations. In order to come off of suspension, the IPF has made both national and international OCT testing one of the requirements for the country.
Zhukov says that on Monday, just two days before the opening of the RPF Russian Cup, a number of lifters at MAI Gym were tested. Critics will argue that due to the timing, that testing was not truly out of competition. If the IPF determines that the RPF has fulfilled the terms of their suspension, the federation will again be eligible for international and regional competitions beginning on August 31.
