damn, im surprised they didnt pass that last DL, there may have been a little hitch there, but nothing bad.

squat angle was shit and people are going to bitch, but whatever. it was a strong lift and appears that if it was from a more level plane it was to depth, if not a little below.

i really believe shawn can go 2600 at 220 and 2500 or better at 198

if u watch the weight it never actually went back down, it got caught on his suit leg and he muscled it past. I can see why it got reds tho.

Ok, what exactly did Al Caslow have to fear by releasing video of Shawn's lifts? They look good to me, squat looks parallel, and the last deadlift looks right on, I think the judge was trying to be ultra mega strict here, hell that would have passed in the USAPL for most judges.

On a side note...why does it look like some kids from the local High School Football Team are spotting this meet...somebody tell me WHAT were they gonna do if shit hit the fan with 1003 on Shawn's back?

Those kids were some of the best spotters you would ever find. They were from Rudy Rudiger's team from Joliet Catholic. Not ONE bar hit the floor all day with 75 lifters. Those kids have caught many 900+ lb squats at many Chicago meets.

i agree the squat was better than most but textbook would mean that the hip joint is below the top of the knee...i believe that is what the APF rulebook says (im not postive, correct me if im wrong) and that is almost there but not quite...very impressive handling that weight though!

I guess gone are the days where you actually have to break parallel, but no wait, I can't say that until we send the video to the lab and analyse it further with drawings :)

With that said, this is a very good multiply squat and definitely more credible than any of the recent byrd attempts that I have seen.

It was high by the video anyone can see that I doubt it was in person, the judges said it was good so who cares.

Watched a few times now, His right leg looks like it breaks below and the left one does not. Seen this many many times, it is the angle of the camera, it is not level.

I have watched the videos quit a few times now and think his lifts were clean and done to standard. I enjoy watching others videos for many reason, one being for tips and form for my own use. I am glad that they were posted as said before Shawn is the top dog of the 198's and 220's. I look very forward to competing with him again at the Pro/Am in August, congrats again you deserve it.

They should ban cameras from filming from the front. All it does it bring on the internet judges saying it wasn't parallel. I watched a lot of vids from that angle and that was definitely a legit lift.

IMO, the squat is just a tad high, same as Sam's. Both very strong though. It looked to me that Shawn cut his off early and could easily have gone that little bitty bit more. But hey, he knew what he needed for these judges and hit it.

I lift at BIG with Shawn and all of the other lifter that people love to talk crap about. Shawn has competed at many different levels of powerlifting local, national and worlds. He has had whites at all of those levels. He has competed in USAPL, APF, and IPA. All real federations with real judges and top level competitors. Everyone knows that if any of these lifts were not good that Shawn and Rick would turn them down. It's called Integrity! Since the lifts were good I am extending an invitation to the Powerstation Pro-Am August 22-24 in Sharonville, Ohio or APF Big Iron Open September 6 Omaha, Nebraska. So that you and you know who you are can compete against Real Lifters and not just write about them. I would love to see Tim Bruner, The Truth, Frank Merrick, Pitbull800, and don't let me forget anyone named anonymous actually show up. Back up your comments and compete. Compete against the best that is all I am asking then you can judge them to their faces. A real lifter would make the effort to at least compete against the guys he talks about. Shawn still has my vote for the best powerlifter around. I wrote this not to antogonize people, but to back my teammate Shawn and the rest of the BIG Team.

Frankl is no doubt one of the best under the conditions he chooses to compete. TMaybe this hasn't occured to you but there are those of us who would not lower ourselves to that standard of competition and thereby would not step foot on that platform.

hey frank, why would anyone wanna compete in a fed where a lifter does 2 squats that are well below parralel, then he went a little higher because it was too low and they didnt give him the lift, not because he didnt hit depth, but because they werent as low as his previous 2 attempts.

This topic is about as fruitful as a discussion about our beliefs on abortion. No one is going to change anyone's mind, so keep on believing what you believe about what ply is best, etc. Look at the lifts for what they are and respect that Frankl has great strength in what ply he competes in.

I first want to congratulate Frankl on his lifts and new world record.

Second, this has to be the best comparison to what is going on when dealing with judging at a meet. Whoever you are you hit the nail on the head and no one can debate this. They will try and of course make remarks that are not called for but in the end each fed is different and judging follows right behind it. No one fed is better then the other except for in the eyes of the lifter from that fed. Which is their opinion and they are entitled to that under the freedoms we have in this country.

The sad part is how childish the comments made make the post not even worth reading. Give it a rest and grow up. All of us want the sport to be more in the public eye then it is now but it will never happen because it, to many outside of the sport, is boring and has nothing to do with the judging not being on par. It is a fun sport/hobby, lift, enjoy meeting new faces, seeing records fall, and last but not least stop crying!

I went to a meet once in a federation and I didn't like it much...So I went to another fed. That's why we have more than one fed. So if the judging of the APF angers you so much, then don't go to their meets. It's really that simple.

For my .02 that was some of the most impressive lifting I have ever seen. I agree with all the judging, and if I can ever be as good as Frankl or have the honor of even lifting with any of the big dogs on here then I will be very pleased with myself. Congratulations to Mr. Frankl and much respect to all the big dogs on here.

I just graduated highschool and i think that some of you bitch more than freshman girls, not that my opinion really matters to some people but the squat looked clean, why bitch and tear it down say something possitive or shut up my god who cares if it wasnt as deep as others it was deep enough to get passed and that is all that matters.
