APC Nationals Results

not a lot of lifters for a national let alone a regular meet

Way to go L.B. Baker you killed your fed instead of working it out with the GPC. Now your just one of the USA powerlifting feds with XYZ in it's name.

I second that. I was a huge suppporter of the APC and now I could care less much like the rest of the former APC lifters.

Why? Just fold or be absorbed by another fed.

That is a national meet ! is looks more like a gym meet.
Mr baker was expelled from the gpc not hard to see why.

How do we justify a nationals with 15 lifters. Do you tag "nationals" and hope that a bunch of people show up? I have lifted in a backyard nationals, so I know the feeling.

I think "nationals" is a moot term anymore. There is not the breadth of competition in any fed from around the country to be considered a national event like an NCAA wrestling tournement or even a spelling bee. Better to call them Senior Opens or World Qualifier or Steve or something.

this is not meant as disrespect to the lifters or their efforts. but if i showed up to a national event and this was the turnout i would feel cheated and not able to tell anyone that i "won nationals"

One of the main problems is to many Nationals going on at one time. No ones fault, its just the way it fell. Everyone can not keep up with what everyone is doing each weekend and I don't think anyone even trys to. Plus again gas prices and cost of living is hurting a lot of people.

very true. ive never had to stress driving three hours to a meet until this past weekend, it was definately a different feeling than usual.

Those things had little or nothing to do with the low turn out I would think..LB separated the APC from the only thing that made it worth while the GPC. He moved nationals to a place without a big APC following. He also tried to force out the APC's biggest supporter and meet promoter Bob Packer in a shady way with half truths and without a real chance to defend himself.

So don't blame gas prices or other feds nationals blame LB.

will be interesting to see the GPC Worlds... probably going the same direction...GPC Europeans went tits up as well...

The GPC lost its biggest supporter when they lost the Americans. They have lost another supporter with the Slovakians. The English are out as well as most of the northern European countries. Tregloan will deal the death blow in September.

Hmmm the poster above must not really see what is happening..The Slovakians and English were at the GPC European meet and the GPC just picked up 4 new countries, two from the WPC...A U.S. fed will join the GPC soon..So I see the GPC as getting strong in the Next couple of years...A little trouble at the moment, but it will work out fine.
