APF Senior Nationals Roster To Be Posted This Week

DicksSportingGoods.com

APF Senior Nationals organizers Becca Swanson and Rick Hussey of BIG report that the roster for the meet will be posted later this week. "We have not posted a roster for these reasons. We are planning on posting two weeks prior. The entry deadline is now the 17th. There are others who post rosters of people who are SUPPOSED to be coming. Then only a few show up. We don't want to do that. Thank for your patients."

Seems like the apf seniors is losing some people?

I think that is a good idea. Last thing people want to see is a list or a video of lifters that wont be there.

Feds are split up making guys choose meets. I'm guessing with the price of gas and flights these days lifters are choosing the one closest to them or the one with cheapest flights.

flights really arent that expensive in some cases. Im flying with 1 stop to omaha from jax for 206 including all taxes.

You must have gotten it a while ago. im closer than you and it was 450 at the cheapest for me.

You ever been there? Omaha has a new huge riverfront area, an old market full of shopping, resturants and bars, Riverboat Casino's just over the river in Iowa. One of the best Zoo's in the country. Lot's of stuff to do!!! Including lifting big weights which is what you go to a National meet to do anyway!!!

I dont think its specifically about the cost of the flight or fuel.

For example... For me, and my handlers (2 of them)3 airfares from nashville plus 2 hotel rooms lets not talk about feeding us big poeple.
This trip will be over a grand.

Its about the effect that spending $500-$1000 would put on poeple who now maybe have tighter budgets because the increase in life expenses, such as food & fuel.

Appox half of US working adults live paycheck to paycheck. Expenses are not always about a specific thing, you have to look at the total picture.

I'm excited to make the trip and blessed to be able to have a few poeple along for the fun. But realized that I will have to tighten the belt so to speak in a few other eras in my personal budget.

Yeah but the flight is the biggest chunk of change in the mix.

Im bringing one handler so I understand it adds up. Yeah Im a working adult too in the united states. We all do know things are tight. Maybe only bring handler to save some ching a ling?

oops those last 2 posts were by me

This is not all about money, who is going to be their to lift or where you are going to party in Omaha after the meet. It is about participating against the best lifters in the biggest meet of the year. Everyone had pleanty of notice to save for the trip and all other expenses. If you qualified for this meet why not show everyone why you deserve to be there. Thank you to the guy that posted the flights. No excuses just show up and lift.

exactly!!!!
If you qualified, this should be your thing. Unfortunately, not enough noise is made for this meet anymore, specially now with two versions of it with the UPA and APF. A-F**king-nnoying.

While it's nice to have your own personal "handlers" with you, if you really want to compete... cut costs and leave the "handlers" at home. BIG is known to help anyone out that wants the help. They have a huge and knowledgable crew... and since it's at their home, I'm sure most if not all of them will be there.

Unless you cannot afford your own plane ticket, you have no excuse.

You all didn't get the point. I'm not bitching about the cost. I'm going and I believe in having your handlers is essential. You compete how you train. I can't imagine going to nationals or any full meet with out the help of someone I train with, unless i'm lifting raw.

Thats not to take away from the help that BIG would have on hand by any means, as I will probably be assisted by Becca as well.

I was just putting it out there that the numbers being down (if they are) it can't be soley based on the cost of airfare, or location.

My god if your decidion on attending a meet is where you are going to party afterwards give me a damn break. Only party I'm going to do is have a steak with my boyfriend and my coach and start making decisions about the next goals.

It is Friday, the end of the week. Where is the Roster at? Has it been posted yet?

We did not include names of people who do not have entries in. If you don't see your name, give us a call, 402-392-2446.

Not a bad turnout. Looks like about half of the lifters are from Big Iron.

Very bad turn out if you were at the 05-06 Seniors! 06 ABOUT 30 IN THE 242 CLASS ALONE!
