Yeah, technically beautiful. Check out his set-up. Not a joule of wasted energy.

I always wonder about those guys if they smoke everything and then all the sudden fail, or if they actually ever really strain.

Send this out to APF judges before nationals.

I would have given him a red light for the squat.

That is some incredible strength.

No the thing is they get money everytime they set a world record, so they only beat a world record by a few kgs so they can beat it again at a later date and get more money, my coach spoke to an indian female weightlifter at the commonwealth games in 2002 and she got £25000 for every world record she got, so imagine what a man in a richer country like Poland would get

I would have given him a yellow light on the way up. He was moving far too fast.

Uhh, been around a while and am aware of that. That is not the context of my statement.

It was meant in the context of how some lifters can really grind a lift wheras some either make it look relatively easy or get smashed. They seemingly never strain.

I was just wondering which style he is. That is a tremendous amount of weight and, at least to me, it is remarkable how easy it looked.

I read in a Brian Siders interview that he always heard people thinking he could add more weights because his lifts look so exlosive and easy but in reality he couldnt even if some of his lifts look really easy.

Anyone that squats close stance will always look deeper to anyone from the USAPL, once you squat out wide is the only time they pay attention to depth.

Actually I think most Australian judges I've seen would have red lighted that.
Just hitting parallel seems to be all that's needed in Europe, while convincingly deep is what's needed down here.

Smiling Powerlifting rules!!!

This is crazy. Hooper is the only one who is close. Forget about any other US lifter, especially from the multi-ply feds. They can't touch this guy in term of actual strength. Okay, maybe Schwab can total a couple of hundreds pounds less. That's about it.

Exactly. Thank you. I have seen Siders lift maaaany times and he is a great example of this. I have had the same conversation with him.

It honestly didn't look the usual IPF deep. Didn't Hooper get reds at Worlds for the same depth? Anyways, about his squat speed, I see both sides to it, as he might get some extra $$$ for the more times he sets a record but it's also true that some lifters explode up with a weight that looks like they could double it but in reality they couldn't lift another pound. I don't suppose we'll ever know for sure.

Add me to the jerks!

Insanely strong, 100% respect to the guy, but not deep enough imo.

Weightlifters in many third world countries get paid for performance. India, Turkey and Iran are a few of them. The US, Britain and Germany (rich countries by your standards) do not pay. Your Indian lifter was a weightlifter according to your post. Weightlifters and powerlifters are not treated equally in most countries. Just ask the Brits.
