Jim Hoskinson On His Masters Nationals Bombout

DicksSportingGoods.com

Jim Hoskinson, 308, talks about his inability to get a squat in at last weekend's APF Masters Nationals and his plans going forward in his EliteFTS training log.

I bombed because I had no business on that platform. I failed myself and TeamEliteFTS. The reason doesn’t really matter. What does matter is what happened. There are reasons and results in life. REASONS DON’T COUNT!

I bombed in the squat. I did not bomb because I wasn’t strong enough, or not skilled enough. I have trained hard and smart. I picked my opener conservativetely and had a plan. I bombed by not performing my lift like I have trained. I went back to old habits and didn’t hit depth by letting the equipment control me. Therefore, I bombed because on this day I was mentally weak. I let circumstances outside of powerlifting in my life distract me and win the battle. I chose to stick to my commitment to doing this meet. I did this because I believe you can not quit on a commitment. I have no excuse as to my mental breakdown and deserve exactly what I got. Even my warm ups did not go as usual. The judging in the meet was good. The facts are I sucked, I bombed, end of story.

Don't worry about it, it happens to everyone who compete's at this level. Because this is not a full-time job for anyone we all get distracted by our day-to-day life. Just continue to train hard and hit it next time!

Honest guy, hope it goes better in future.

No excuses! Just lift it!

Jim, you're a class guy in every since of the word! What you can do and will do again is a matter of record that no one can argue. Good luck at your next meet. Your friend and brother! Buddy!

Well, I'll be dipped in shit ! Finally, a honest powerlifter that's also brutally honest about himself/herself. I give you the maddest of props Jim. You owned up to what YOU did or DIDN'T do and IMO, that takes brass nads, my friend. Good luck, Hoss !

Now, will someone please check and make sure Hell didn't freeze over!

Jim never makes excuses just understands his problems and tries to correct them. He is a good guy and a friend, Good luck Jim, call me this week and lets discuss you coming up to train.

Jim,

You're a really exceptionally good person, as evidenced by the posts you have on the EFS website celebrating the accomplishments of others. Try not to be so hard on yourself for having an off day....In your posts and in how you conduct yourself, you are a great example for people to follow. This one meet is nothing in that context.

Jim,

I don't know you, but I am humbled by your honesty and integrity. Meeting and hearing of people who have true character is inspiring. I hope to read of your future successes.

Cool, just fix it and come back stronger.
