Unofficial reports are coming in from this weekend's APF Masters, Junior, and Teen Nationals which is being held through today in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Debbie Damminga, 148, has hit an M2 WPC World Record with a deadlift of 402 pounds. The effort ranks her sixth on the Powerlifting Watch Lifter Rankings.

At Outlaws:

the openers for the masters tomorrow are looking really nice. almost ten guys opening up at 900-1000. Toby Irby, Jim Hoskinson, Mike Mcdaniel, Al Mehan, and a few others are opening over a grand.

They had some pretty nice lifting today with the womens and juniors. a couple kids squatted over 700, all of them teenagers. Dunn opened up at 720 at 148lbs. He couldnt find his depth but moved all three lifts to completion going up to almost 800. had a guy bench over 500, jumped the rack command.

Jo Jordan reports:

Toby Irby got 1008 @ 242
Lester Estevez got 909 @ 275
Joe Norman got 1003 @ 220
Jim Hoskinson - out
Keith Southwood - 640 bench @ shw

Lol...Not even close brother!

More importantly, I think its cool that two of the finest people in the sport, Jim and Debbie are mentioned in the same post.

Debbie's Husband Gregg (also an awesome guy) hit 854 for a world record on the squat today. Still waiting to hear about his bench and DL. GREAT JOB GREGG!

Actually Debbie's 4 WRs were AWPC (drug tested), they let her do the meet as an AWPC entry as we both wanted to lift at the same National level meet. Confirms again the APF/WPC is "for the lifter".

Hoskinson tried ~1020, 1060, 1080, all down and up, but all high. He had driven all night to make the meet and lifted on just a few hours sleep. Still a hella nice guy who just had lifted in a meet about a month ago.

I went only 4/9, but got a WR squat with 848 and upped my WR total to 2071 at 275M2, so that's pretty nice.

Garry Frank put on a hell of a meet. Almost 120 lifters over two days (30+ were juniors with several records, very nice to see the future), huge ballroom in a Holiday Inn, plenty of warmup room space and equipment, fruit, drinks, and pizza for the lifters, ran on time, consistent, tight judging, good metal music, everything you could want. This is the way to run a meet -- the APF is on track.

Trolls do your best with the positive nature of this thread, but it'll be pretty hard to f-up. Too much good stuff.

WPC Worlds in Florida in November!

Gregg.

Does Frank ever plan to return to the platform?

Al Mehan hit a 2501 total in the 308's. Craig Stutes went for a 749 deadlift to beat him but he lost his grip at the very top! Craig hit 1069 (if I remember correctly) very deep and with seemingly very little effort.Even some USAPL college lifters sitting next to me were impressed with his depth and strength. Very good lifting and the judging was tight but consistant.

Garry had 2 injuries that sidetracked him. A hurt back, and then a torn pec. Two injuries that take a lot of time to recover from.

I'm hearing big things out of there. I'm almost positive that i heard he's going to seniors with his guys.

i think the 3 lift bench record is all but gone, from the info im getting.

We just got back from the meet.

Stutes is an animal. effortless strength. Hoskinson missed his squats high, but they werent short on power. i was looking forward to seeing him bench. I think he was looking forward to it to test out the new metals.

There was a great battle with many records falling between joe norman and henry fletcher. joe beat henry by 75 lbs but they were back and forth on squats and deads.

Mehan was sick as always. ultra consistent. rock solid squatter. pulled well to get his first 2500.

Toby Irby had a monster day. over a grand on squats, and won best lifter. best mailman since Newman.

Russ Barlow and Damminga both pulled over 700. Good tall lifters. Overall i was very impressed with all of the masters and how they pulled.

Al Cayers had a really nice day winning best lifter weighing 161. He had a great squat.

For the bench only we had some nice numbers. a few reverse grip guys did well. Hendrix went over 500. Mike Delaval couldnt put it together but gave 800 a ride three times.

Not to leave the women out, but Lee Denman won best lifter. Had a great day but someone needs to cool it on the "jack up" slaps. Someone got a little slap happy and almost sent her face down. Debbie had a great day, and so did the Vidor high school team.

Im sorry if i left anyone out. im trying to fill the gaps from what is not listed above.

Congrats to all!Don't forget the Biggest bp on the river in New Roads this weekend for those of you around the Baton Rouge area.

How did these guys bench?
Roger Ryan
Buddy McKee
Randy Patterson

Roger Ryan did 633 missed 716

No excuses! Just lift it!

Hey this is Buddy. Unfortunately Randy wasn't able to attend for health reasons according to Ken. Roger hit a very good 633 and changed shirts to go right at breaking his All-time >50 record 711 with a 716 attempt and missed. He weighed in at only around 268 I think.

I did the 275 (dropped 12 pounds over the last week or so and was back to 285 by Sunday). I was in the Fullpower and B.O. (50-54) so me and Roger finally got to compete against each other. I felt aweful warming up for squats and struggled with 685 backstage! I went and dropped my opener by 100 lbs. to 705. Unexplainably it felt fine on the platform, deep and fast as was 755. I went back to my planned opener of 804 for my 3rd. I setup good and it felt light enough but as I started down I blew out a vessel in my nose and blood started flowing down my face and I guess it broke my focus and I lost my tightess and started shaking all the way down. I blew it up strong and solid but I was afraid I didn't hit depth and I was right. About an inch the judges said (the judging was excellent all day!). So as it turned out I'm glad I lowered the opener!

Oddly I felt better and better as the day went on. I felt very good during Bench warmups. I never got a rep down good in training with the new 2 ply Katana so I planned to stay in the 1 ply. This worked out well. I opened with a WPC WR and APF Am. Rec. 568 and had the shirt a little low and had to try and roll my wrist forward to touch and dumped it on my stomach. Just as it was about to dump the blood skirted out of my nose again and my training partner Chris Sanford, who was in the 40-44 220's; said "I thought you were dead"! (I hope the photographer got a good picture of it!) I took the weight again and raised the shirt just a little and nailed it with a face and eye full of blood as it blew again! By now I was playing it up a little as the crowd seemed to love it! I took 600 on my 3rd (1st time since the surgery in a meet) and again, with a face full of blood; got it solidly! (This was a great confidence booster and releif!/No Pain!). I took a 4th with 622 and it was the best of the presses I think but my right hand dipped down right before locking (left locked). John Ewing(who handed off)said I bumped the right upright right near the top with the bar and that's when it bounced forward and dipped on that side. (Rough luck but still a big confidence booster for later meets).

I felt better warming up for deads than I can remember in a long time (DL training hadn't gone well this cycle). I opened real safe at 568 and it went up real easy. 590 on the 2nd felt even easier, so I took 611 to give me the APF Am. 275 50-54 total record (needed 1966). It came off the floor real good and was moving well but it started rolling out of my left hand about mid thigh and I couldn't hold on to finish!(very frustrating!) After a couple of minutes to get over the missed DL and Record I was very pleased with the results on the day, and with the 1945 total I am steadily making progress back to over 2000 again!

I won the 275 Full-power and finished 2nd to Roger Ryan in the Bench Only (no disgrace against a bencher of his caliber). I can't wait til me and Roger get to go at it again...hopefully WPC World's at West Palm Beach, Fl. in November! Congrats Roger!...this time! LOL!

This was a great meet by Garry Frank and company with fantastic lifts and totals by so many lifters. It doesn't get any better than this meet! Great job everybody who was there and was envolved!!!

Congrats Roger and Buddy! Get well soon, Randy.

No excuses! Just lift it!

Thanks Jim!

Thanks Jim & Buddy. I was really sorry to hear about Randy Patterson having to back out last minute. Hope he gets well soon. It was great to meet Buddy for the first time. Congrats on those "Bloody Buddy" lifts. If you didn't squat and only concentrated on the "Important" lift you'd probably beat me. LOL

The meet was a great venue, and well run, with an exception of a little confusion on when the bench only lifters were to lift. I think this is the first meet that I've been to where there were MOUNTAINS of food(pizza & fruit) in the warmup room for the lifters. Thanks to the judges, meet staff, and the spotters that saved my ass(again).LOL

No excuses! Just lift it!

It was good to finally meet you too Roger! I'm looking forward to Worlds and doing it again in November! Maybe I can be a little better by then and give you a little better challenge. It was an honor to finally get to face off. Like I said; no disgrace to finish second to a bencher of your caliber...maybe next time! You definately make me have a reason to get better!

Buddy wish I was there to see you lift! Congratulations brother...

Gary Frank always hooks the lifters up!!!

Putt Houston.... now with more Bom Chicka Wahwahhhhhh

No excuses! Just lift it!

Thanks Putt! I agree! Garry really does it right!
