Lifter To Lifter Challenges

wow, 100% if favor! (yes, I'm fast...)

I think challenges are great. This is what generated the excitement for the strongmen of old. The greats such as Cyr thrived not on boring meets, but on challenges from the public and other strongmen. A return to those days might just work!

In short: 30 lifters lifting in a meet = boring, 2 lifters going head-to-head in a challenge match = excitement.

It's safer than pulling two 9mms.

i think challenges should have specific rules and should meet on a neautral ground with a mix of Raw , Single and double ply gear and have judges from 3 different federations make it fair for both parties involved so truly the better man wins

someone who voted that its bad for the sport please elaborate on ur opinion. I think its a good thing, of course tact and how its done makes a difference.

Oh, and if u issue a challenge to someone, u better show up to lift!

I don't think it has any effect on the sport as a whole. It may generate some added interest between the lifters involved and their group of training partners/fans.

i dont think its good .

It's a good thing to be called out and be challenged. What do you think every master in China and Japan used to do and still do. They were challenged by other masters and even up and coming students to prove themselves. If you can't beat the guy then admit it but I'd rather go down giving it my all just like all of the old martial arts masters.

what happened to my post? im sure thats not chuck v that just posted so i thought it was funny.

I don't see anything wrong with a challenge as long as it is done with class and respect for the lifter that is being challenged. I would also say that the challenge should be made directly to the person and not made over the internet to create more b/s drama

challeges may be good for the crowd and maybe ever the lifters but since ive been in this sport (witch has not been long)ive always been told you lift aginst yourself and no one else as long as you can better your last lift you win you may not get a trophy or a record but you beat the hardest competitor you will ever face yourself and thats what drives me every workout not someone saying that they can bench more than me. just my opinion nothing more.

What other sport has the competitors only attempting to beat themselves? Imporving your lifts is a great goal, but it is not the intention of any sport. Every lifter should be striving to be the best and win each meet entered. You may not win one meet, but why is your goal only to beat yourself? On Thanksgiving all of the better teams won their games. Do think that the less talented teams went out to only improve on the previous weeks performance or to win the game?

As far as the challenge it is a good thing. Challenges have worked in boxing/mma for years. It provides excitement for fans and motivation for lifters. You can disagree with how the challange was issued, but people are talking about it. Scott went to NERB to prove how strong he is, where were all of the "world record holders" at to prove the same? He has offered 10k as an incentive to lift and prove to himself and the powerlifting community that he is one of the top lifters. Why is this seen as such a negative?

Hey isnt powerlifting a sport?

haha, I think that its good to challenge someone.

Its like armwrestling, to see who is stronger. But, you know its also to prove yourself and sometime people go far with that also.

I know I do. But anyways I think they are both good for pl.

Its fun to build muscsle and strength.

Challenges are great as long as they are different lifts from the power lifting 3. Which of the super heavies could clean and jerk the most? That would be worth watching!!!!

YOU ARE GREAT ROB LUYANDO!!!!!!Powerlifting rules!!!
