Stanaszeck actually squatted a 661 at 110 raw!

When a tiny little squirel guy like "C4" squats 800lbs that's big.

Nothing against your buddy, cause that is an awesome squat, but Andreas did SIX TIMES his weight raw.

I hate to state the obvious, but I just have a feeling Mr. Byrd is gonna surprise us again real soon...

Sam Byrd squatted 705 @ 210 at the NERB and with only a belt (no suit and no knee wraps.)

C4 squatted 800 @ 228 at The Clash of the Titans and like Byrd, no suit, but he was allowed to wrap his knees.

Give Byrd 18 pounds of solid bodyweight and some knee wraps and you've got yourself an old school squat war!

For the 2008 Clash of the Titans, we'd like to add a 250lbs and under bodyweight division and it would rock to see C4 Cass, Sam Byrd, Matt Kroczaleski, Dondell Blue and ? gun it out for that title in the 3 lift!

And that's a great squat list Powerlifting Watch put together and ya always got to include Dr. Squat when you're talking about the greatest squatters of all time.

Much Respect,
Sean Zilla Katterle
HardcorePowerlifting.com

Magnus Carlsson IPF World reckord in 60kg with 320kg is very impressive and Shane Hammands 457.5 in super and Kirk Karowski 455kg in 125kg wieght class is very good Reckords.

lol I put that together, I mispelled Stanaszek's first name, but I have to say Dr. Squat has to be one of the best old school squatters around, with Ed Coan. Also, If Byrd tried that again, hed probaby have a good 750 plus raw or so in him. And I belive Byrd did have um not wraps but a "knee Brace"

When did Hatfield do that 1040. And what is almost raw

Not to take anything away from andre but when your levers become that short the lift enters a whole nother realm. I am a natural puller 585@165 conv. Although I still have a 17" high hip pull it comes easy for me. I open 3x BW raw without breaking a sweat. I feel for those big benchin' SOBs come the end of the meet. They practically kiss the platform to get in the hole not to mention the 300lbers with small girly hands.

I voted for Stanazk. i dont care if he was a midget or dwarf or whatever. He squatted 6 times his bodyweight raw! that freakin insane! So far he is the only person to squat 6 times his bodyweight, even with the highly advanced squat suits, and he is STILL ranked the #1 squat by formula with both the wilkes and malone formulas! That is why he gets my vote over Dr. Squat.

Now, Dr Squat, Fred hatfield, is right up there also. After all, he is the one who initiated my passion for squatting 10 years ago. That 1014 was the all time biggest squat at that time. There was an article in 1977 issue of PLUSA about the squat gear of the time. it said the average out of the squat suit was 12.97%, which is right in line with the gear i have tested. So that means Hatfield was squatting right around 900 lbs raw at 255! Thats some sick weight!

Does anyone know exactly what Hatfield squatted in by the way? i have registered on his forum under several names but i cant get a confermation email back. So if anyone is on that forum, please get me added over there uunder the same screen name.

of course, any time u mention squatting, u also have to include Coan who was head and shoulders over hatfiels in the 220 class and Goggins who also held the biggest squats of the time at several different points in his career.

As for the comment on my squat at the NERB, i wore Rehband knee sleeves. they are neoprene and dont give any support, they just keep my knees warm and lubricated. they really keep them from getting as sore the next day.

This is 10% Luck, 20% Skill, 15% Concentrated Power of Will... 5% Pleasure, 50% Pain, and 100% Reason to Remember the Name!

big byrd,

U could also try contacting Dr. Hatfield through the International Sports Science Association, of which he is a founding member. Just a thought...

And its 1014.1 and not 1040. He did it in the days when marathon suits and knee braces were used. They werent juiced up and they didnt give much poundage. He was as equipped as coan was. He could of hit 1100 plus today had he wore the same stuff they use now.

Yeah thats my comment.

I use them sometimes too.

They dont give any puounds and they are great for the next day. I cant tell you have damn sore my knees get after all that shit.

You have to have them. But I only use them when doind heavy sets. When doing sets with heavy lifting, I use them but not when doing meets or maxing out and especially not when doing a pr.

I am totally raw.

I vote for Stanazeks too btw.

I know one thing though, his 662.5 @ 111 was not raw, it was with a suit. It was at the IPFs. Wade Hooper was also in the same meet btw.

His highest raw squat is 644 but I choose to pick the 639.3 b/c its better pound for pound.

But still...

THAT IS FUCKING SICK!

I can only squat 300 and im in the 132 and I do that raw.

Guys im only 17 and I am in the LSHPLA but this guy was in his 20s and hes only in a weight class over me.

I dont ever think I will squat that!

IT IS INSANE

I PICK HIM!

I meant under me sorry...lol

Also

Big Bird what was your weight with the 1063?

my weight for the 1063 was 218.

if u think there werent steroids in the 80s and 90s u are SORELY mistaken! Steroids were legal to use in the US up until the Steroid Control Act of 1991, do u honestly think they werent being used? Im not gonna get into this, but think bout it.

This is 10% Luck, 20% Skill, 15% Concentrated Power of Will... 5% Pleasure, 50% Pain, and 100% Reason to Remember the Name!

Oh no, I know they had steroids.

It would be absurd to say they didnt take steroids then.

My comment "They werent Juiced Up" was directed toward the equipment, I guess I should of made it worded differently.

Yeah the technology has changed.

But it doesnt really matter, it still takes a hell of a lot of strength to do any kind of powerlifting they hold now whether it be in competitions where multiply ply, single ply or raw lifting is allowed. Or if its only a highschool federation like the one im in for the moment. lol

I think that helps make more sense.

Not trying to be rude. But, has anyone seen Stanaziak(sp?) squat? He moves like 2". 100s
of people can do 3x bodyweight if they only had to move the weight 2". He is built to squat. Amazing.

I had to vote for Byrd. over 1000 is sick for that bodyweight.

By the way, marathon suits were a wicked suit.

No disrespect, Priest, but nobody gives NBA players a hard time cause they're 7'0 and can dunk. They just give them credit because they got hops. Same thing should apply here. Matter of fact, if that was true, he pound for pound out-deadlifts Bolten even though he definitely doesn't have the leverages for that lift. 6X bodyweight is freakish.

You know your right, even though he only pulls 300 something, its still a tad better pound for pound that boltons. But 6x is freakish indeed. My total is a tad over 7x raw and his squat is a close to it. That tell you this dude is bad ass.

I dont dig NBA players. A 7 footer dunkin on a 10 foot hoop aint impressive.

I actually agree with you. Ask people what are the best Squats, DLs or Benches are of all time and 9 times out of 10 they wont say the best pound for pound. Why? Good question.

My favs would be:
Squat - Goggins 1100@242(painful to watch but completly badass)

Dead - Coans 901@220

Bench - Hecks 705@181

My favorite lifter of all time:
Inaba(17x world champion)- probably the only record that wont be broken.

No excuses! Just lift it!

I was there and saw Sam Byrd's squat. It may have been the easiest huge squat I've ever seen. Most people's last warmup is harder. If the rack height hadn't been wrong and he'd gotten out clean on the 1st try (it took three) I think he'd have gotten the 1102 that day. I have to give it my # 1 vote! More is difinitely coming!

Stanaszek !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Powerlifting rules!!! Bodybuilding sucks!!! !!! :)

Stanaszek's deadlift, like that of many dwarves or midgets, is held back because of his tiny hands. Can't hold on to the bar.

Oddly enough, Midote of Japan, who usually lifts at 125k, has hands so small that he cannot DL over 315k (694lbs). Very short thumbs. This has cost him medals and titles.

Voting for Brandon Cass 800 @ 225 raw squat. Awesome!!

Not on the list but Rob Wagner squatted 799 @198. Very impressive being he was only in a single ply Hardcore.

C'4 is utterly amazing!!!!!
Patti Huff

All of these men have performed great feats and have a lot to be proud of, but nobody looks as good squatting as my "C4"...he gets my vote every time.

My vote is for Villareals 1300 pound squat raw!!!

I voted for Byrd, I believe, but looking at the "what makes a pl fed legit thread" (paraphased) and I don't know how "better" was supposed to be defined, but does the fact that Cass's and Hatfield's squat were done @ non-sanctioned meets make them less legitimate? Also, does Hatfield's recent comments about what makes a legit fed (i.e. drug testing) make his squat less legit (less "better" :) )?

Priest,

I'm with you on the 901 deadlift at 220. Freakin insane. I'm also not an NBA fan either; just an analogy.

jj

what about lance karabel's 920 at the usapl 2007 nationals? look for a 950-1000# out of the big man from chi town at the american open in dec!

Hatfields squat was amazing there is no doubt and the judging was as strict as any fed out there today. He was innovative as a lifter as far as my squat goes it was a legal rock bottom squat and was by far the lowest of anybody at the competition that day. It was a sanctioned meet as I understood. It is a shame that all of us can not get together and lift under the same criteria, but that is not possible. I look forward to lifting as long as I can. Thanks and God Bless, Brandon "C'4" Cass

1220...heaviest squat of all-time

big mike miller +1

Brian Mc wrote:

Cass's squat was performed at MHP's Clash of the Titans which is sanctioned, produced and promoted by Hardcore Powerlifting, LLC. Also, the venue was The Super Show Expo which is one of the four largest venues in the country for weight lifting.

hattfields 1014 near raw would be 1300+ with todays gear. and who cares about mike "mile high" millers half squat.

c4 gets my vote.

Jorgen Ljungberg from sweden squat 881pounds only with belt in WPC Iceland

Yeah tell me about it.

That squat does not count.

It's simple.
