UPA Iowa Bench Bash For Cash Action

Bill Carpenter reviews some of the action at the UPA Iowa Bench Bash for Cash Pro event held yesterday in Dubuque, Iowa.

I dont have the morning results yet. Jackie and Eric Stone will be sending them to me soon. I have to go break down the meet now, but I want to let you know some of the night results. I will report more later and post a lot of video. Brad Heck won the lightweight with 694. Sean Frankl did a 788 for 4 x's bodyweight - FREAKL is all I can say Sean is so fast with his presses it is scary. Richie Briggs hit a 832 at 242 and is a junior!! He gets stronger every meet and will be breaking records for years to come. Rob Luyando - What can you say about this guy. He is truly the best ever and still just amazes me at every meet I watch him lift at. Rob hit a 903 with record chips I think that makes it 904 or 905. Rob won the Champion of the Bench Bash for Cash Best lifter award. Way to go Rob! Tommy Harrison a great lifter out of Chicago hit a nice 815 opener and just missed I think 848. Ryan Kennelly hit a nice 965 for his second attempt. Ryan was in a lot of pain but he promised to lift in my meet and he still roughed it out like a true Champion. Ryan has a really bad tear in his groin area. You could see it turning black and blue. Thank you Ryan for still doing the show. Then you have the incredible Becca Swanson who put on a great show and going 4 for 4 finishing with 518! What a come back after a long lay off and with all the issues Rick and her have been dealing with. A great Champion. Way to go Becca! Great job to all of the other lifters that I can not think of right now. It was a great meet. I want to thank Bill Crawford from Metal Militia. Metal Militia sponsored the meet and gave $1000 certificate. Bill was the head judge and he is by far the best judge I have ever seen. He was very consistent with what the rules state. If you get a lift passed by Bill you will be very proud too. The meet overall was a huge success. I want to thank all of the sponsors, friends, and family for helping me set up and run the show. Jackie and Eric Stone thank you for all that you do for me. You guys are awesome. If I have forgot anybody my apologies. I am tired. LOL. I will have the results up soon.

Looking forward to the full results.

What can we say about Rob. He will have many pulling for him in any meet he attends. He is receiving because he gives. I posted on a state fed forum that I needed help with my diet - and bamb - just like his record benches - he sends me an email with sme some suggestions.

Follow his lead. Help others, and good things come. Good things happen to good people. Nice Job Rob.
