See my comments over in the best bench press moment.

hoerners 804@148 is huuuuge!

hoopers lifts are always big, too!

There were also 3 Russians who squatted over 800lbs at 198 (IPF), again, a 2 hr weigh-in, yet no mention. You realize that they are more impressive than most of the half squats on this list.

Why don't you move to Russia!

Like I've said before, I have to take a look at whether and how I can do an adequate job of incorporating international results. Currently, the poll is certainly biased towards Americans and international competitors who compete in America.

Hooper is fantastic...clearly the superior lifter!...IPF WORLDS and Cat lll Judging...HEY!!!...... no BS here!!!!

"Snow on the Mantle...But Fire in the Furnace"

The usapl i read three times has let some people weigh in 24 hours before competing while others are weighing in 2 hours before.

at least other feds have people going under the same standards.

and russia was banned for what? not following ipf rules?

no offense to big scott but
weeches squat is not impressive.

826 pounds at 308 is about 2.68 times bodyweight.

that equivilant to a 181 doing 485. nope, not impressive.

Is anyone powerlifting today doing that weight? That's what makes it impressive. Bodyweight multiples seem to break down when trying to perform these comparisons.

pound for pound, yes.

there is a video of an olympic lifter on the internet that has a 165ish guy doing a double at 500 pounds walking it out with no spotters.
that is 3x bodyweight + 5 pounds for a double.
that would be equivilant to big scott doing 929 for a double.

didnt capt kirk do 800x5 at 275. 2.9x bodyweight for 5!!!!!!!!!

didnt mikesell do 903 raw? 2.8x bodyweight.

so if you go by bodyweight capt kirk did more.
by coefficient mikesell did more.

its a nice squat but not the best of the year.

An argument can be made for Kirk's 825, I believe done with knee wraps in the AAU.

Mikesell squatted the 903 in 2004!

Weech had the highest raw squat of the year, that's why it's on the list.

my mistake with mikesell.

well if an 900 pound man squats his own bodyweight people would be impressed then.
even though he only doing 1x bodyweight.

we kinda ran into something like this with
lewis when he first did 1000 pounds. I thought
he should have been able to do double bodyweight.

i just think the lighter lifters are far more impressive lifts.

why dont lighter guys squat raw? cuz nobody out there is gonna say oooo and aaaah. they would rather see 500 pound people doing 2x bodyweight than see a lifter do 5x bodyweight(doesnt make sense). but a 500 squat raw is waaay more impressive (3x bodyweight) than 2x bodyweight squat.

oh yeah. capt kirks lifts were amazing lifts.

Kirk was no knee wraps 826 at 242 after coming out of retirement! Kirk is fuking Bad Ass!

There are some guys that can squat 825 raw, like donnie thompson... but the point is... they havent stepped up to the plate. And they wont till they are challenged, so good job Scoot on pushing the barrier and issueing a challenge! its the best out there for now until someone else has the balls to step up and claim it!

But just so you know Scott... i got my eye on that number;)

This is 10% Luck, 20% Skill, 15% Concentrated Power of Will... 5% Pleasure, 50% Pain, and 100% Reason to Remember the Name!

I think Matt Kroc. sqatted 926 with no freaken knee wraps at last years Arnold at 220. So capt. kirks while a nice squat would be second best. Matt K. also said knee wraps are for pussy's. Is he for real?

Karwoski wasn't using any equipment, including knee wraps, for the 826.
