Jackson was one of those borderline calls that always have to be made when doing these sort of things. He does deserve a lot of recognition for tying the 242 all-time record at the WABDL Worlds.

Actually his 840 pound bench is the highest in a full meet regardless of bodyweight. A very tough decision to leave him off this list.

y put yard up there... cieri bench 525 raw at 198 not even using wrist wraps... yard benches 550 raw with his spotters hands all over the bar.... cieri is like 80 pounds ligher than him and can out bench him....

u really gotta give it up to hornstraa and cieri

I've thought more about leaving Scott Yard off this list and decided I made a mistake. The highest all-time bench in a full meet regardless of weight coupled with going over 800 multiple times during the year means that he deserves to be on here.

it is funny that you bash yard, yet you go and watch his videos on elite fts, and read his log hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

actually, ive heard yard never benches raw except for a warm up...550 aint bad for never training it...but maybe ill just be a troll instead seems easier!!!!!

why are cieri or meeker on there?

Kennelly needs to be on the list!

Kennelly fan but was has he done lately ? Rob is the man 804 @ 220 / 810 @242

Where is the video at of Ciera doing 525 raw at 198? That is pretty amazing!

Luyundo!! The man is a freak! A machine! Two records-804 @ 220 an 810 @ 242! And in less than a month!!

Luyando broke a record that was 15 minutes old. Hoorstra broke a record that was 27 years old. Hoornstra is the man at 242, period.

A 27 year old record would mean more, the gear today is unbeliveable. It's amazing what there getting out of the shirts these days.Still a feet in itself even to hold and balance the weight.Nice job Rob,how long before 850 ?

No disrespect towards Mendy but to put him on this list and not Kennelly is a slap in the face to Ryan. Ryan did a 905 this year and several 800+ benches as well. Ryan is one of the most consistant benchers out there. Mendy is freak strong but very seldom puts a lift together in a meet.

where is the burdett debate?

someone had a gret point by saying

"burdett did 639@198 in a single ply
and cieri did 589@198 in a single ply"

I voted for luyandos 804@220. all I can say is wow!

my number 2 would have to be cieris 525 lift.
great liftin by cieri!!!!!

wongs 881 was impressive.
mendys 1008 was a huuge lift, too.

i dont belong up here with these guys.

Priest you do belong on this list along with your lover Brand Heck. Both are awsome light weights.

As for me I am just in it to have fun and hit PR's. I don't consider myself an elite lifter just another gym rat that lives for this shit!

Kennelly also belongs on this list he is one of the most consistant benchers alive.

But Mendelson hit the highest bench in the history of powerlifting! There's no question Kennelly is one of the best and excluding him was extremely difficult.

i would put heck on the list just cuz he has a joe mazza blowup doll! I have seen it. it is hot.
lol

Priest don't laugh to loud he also has one of you that looks pretty worn! LOL!

that muther......!

well, thats understandable

Alberto Franco is the best, in Argentina we love him...

Is Dennis Cieri the only lifter on the list that lifts in IPF drug tested competitions? If so, there should be no debate. The IPF is the only legitimate governing body in Powerlifting therefore Dennis would be the only legitimate lifter. His raw lifts are up at the top pound for pound and his single ply IPF judged lifts are also among the best pound for pound..

haha give it up for the unbiased opinion everyone!

I think you need to add Gene Rychlak, Jr. who now has the biggest bench at 1,010lbs.

It's awfully late, but I've added him.

who has the biggest single ply bench in the 198s?

considering cieris 525 lift wasnt even done in the usapl. get your facts correct.

Cieri also benched 578 pounds in single ply at the IPF Bench Press Worlds, 590 at the USAPL Bench Nationals and 567 at the second USAPL Bench Nationals.

VAMOS TODAVIA FRANCO.....GRANDE Y PELUDO....VAMOS FRANCO VAMOS FRANCO.....VIVA FRANCO...

wow

What about the little guys? I saw Narbe Mansourian do 392 raw under 148 at WABDL. The ratio should be considered. Doug Ortiz should also be considered. He has pressed 352 at 132.

Both very impressive lifts!

By the way, if a lifter lifts raw in an equipped division do you think they're competing against raw or equipped records or both?

We MEXICANS!!! need to stick together. Go ALBERT!!!

Albert,,,aka "The Juggernaut" great job!Keep up the good work...

denis is a great lifter.
but,
-he lifted 589 in a single ply drug tested fed.
-burdett lifted 639 in a single ply drug tested fed.

not even close.

The WABDL isn't single ply and the shirts they allow are different than what are allowed in the IPF. Even if they completed the above lifts in the same shirt, rules and judging differences don't justify calling the comparison between two great benchers, in Burdette and Cieri, "not even close".

I posed the question earlier in this thread as to whether a lifter who competes with "inferior" equipment to what is allowed in a federation, should be considered as having competed with the equipment they used or what the federation rules allow. For instance, if a lifter chooses to wear single ply in a double ply federation how have they competed? Should a lifter who competes raw in an equipped division be eligible to set raw records? Any thoughts?

Get your facts straight, Dennis DID lift 525 in a USAPL sanctioned meet. May 20th at the Fitness Factory Bench Meet in Rockaway, N.J.. Look it up!! Once again- THE USAPL IS THE ONLY IPF SANCTIONED FEDERATION IN THE USA, THEREFORE IT IS THE ONLY REAL FEDERATION IN THE USA!! No disrespect tp other lifters and other federations but the IPF Worlds is the pinnacle of this sport, and the only road to get there is through the USAPL, and if you're a 198 pounder Dennis is the toll taker..

I was present to see Rob Luyando's 804 @ 220..... Simply AMAZING, definitely a great bencher, I look forward to seeing him compete in 'o7 too, I really learn a lot by watching strong lifters like him.

anonymous, lets talk about this again in 6 months
