Lowering The Bar For Powerlifting Squats

A member at Bodybuilding.com has just discovered that he has been squatting with the bar placed higher than most doing powerlifting training. He wonders whether he should abandon his Olympic style of squatting and what the advantages will be to him.

Some good answers by other members:

gives you better leverage.

Lowering the bar shifts the stress to the posterior chain, which is a stronger group of muscles than the quads so yes you will be able to lift more. Additionally, it can help keep the weight on your heels rather than your toes.
