Mike MacDonald Sets CPU National Record

20-year-old Mike MacDonald (220) set a new open CPU National Record deadlift on his way to winning the 220 class at Saturday's NAPF Quest American Invitational at the Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio. MacDonald pulled 722 pounds (327.5kg). That erased the 10-year-old mark of 716 pounds (325kg) held by Tom Nicholls. He missed a final attempt that would have pushed the record up to 738 pounds (335kg).

MacDonald added a 694 pound squat and 468 pound bench press. After the performance, MacDonald now holds all four CPU Junior Records (squat, bench press, deadlift and total).
