Benni Magnusson to Compete on March 27

Iceland's Benedikt Magnusson will return to the platform on March 27 for a raw bench press and deadlift competition at the Fun Pub in Jyväskylä, Finland. Currently, Magnusson holds the second biggest deadlift in history at 970 pounds. At one time, his was the top ranked pull, before Andy Bolton overtook it with a 971 pound pull.

Meet director Jani Murtomaki reports that the lineup also includes IFBB pro bodybuilder Jari Mentula, Tommi Pitkänen (550 raw bench press @ 220), Strongwoman competitors Kati Luoto (bench) and Gemma Magnusson (deadlift), and other lifters from Iceland, Czech Republic and Finland.

Funky Monkey likes this. be good to see if he can go over 1,000lbs.

i doubt he'll go over 1000 in this one. i have nothing to base that opinion on, but my feeling is that he just wants to get his feet wet in a meet again to see where he's at currently and see what he needed to do for the big pull-off against bolton, KK, big z and the others.

Benni is just getting warmed up... I'm sure he'll pull some impressive weight, but this is just an preview for whats to come. I've got no doubt he'll be bolton's biggest challenge next year.

He pulled 881 this summer, a user posted the icelandic site here. His 800 was a year ago.

thank you for the correction. 881 is still a far cry from 1000
