Wow, totally impressed with all of his lifts.

Since I only see this at National level meets I have a question about the position of the judges during the deadlifts. After viewing meet results from the Arnold who decides to place the judges chair in a position 10ft off the side and to the rear of the lifter. Wouldn't a viewpoint directly from the side be a better vantage point to see all the things you're looking at?

I dont want to stir up a hornets nest or hear a lot of federation bashing, just some direction as to why the judges chairs are placed there. It seems to be more of a disadvantage but I could be proven wrong; thus the question. Thank You.

Great pull Tony!

Putt Houston.... now with Ridiculous BCWW

Huge Congrats from Hawaii T!!! Me, Renny, Al and Austin couldn't be happier for you!!! You are one meet closer to hitting all your individual lift PR's at the same meet for a monster total!!! We are all looking forward to having you back home.

Leo

Its up to the referee to put a chair where THEY feel they can do the best job. Nobody tells them where to sit.

Are you saying that it wasn't a clean lift putt?

If so, you need to see an optometrist.

I think it would be easier to see if the knee's were unlocked/coming unlocked. From the side with a lot of sumo pullers the plates completely block the view of the knee at lockout. Just a guess though

Guys, putt is only asking why the chairs are right there. Chill.

lol... go play in traffic.

I said Great pull Tony! The lift was good...

It may be the view point of the camera itself exaggerating the depth perception but the judges appear to be in the background and not so much in the forefront. I've witnessed it myself in person at the National level meets and I see it again here. It seems to be a USAPL thing as I certainly dont see it in other federations.

Hmmmm Eliot I see u in there, what say you oh scratchy throat?

Putt

true. it's not a fed bash, it's correct. i've lifted in 5 feds - one being usapl/ipf - and for some reason, judge placement seems unusual in usapl at many of the major meets.

sometimes refs are at floor level and lifters on stages...or too far back for some reason?

one nationals i did with them, the head judge was at the floor level nearly in the audience - and the stage was a good near 3 feet high. how on earth you get accurate depth judging at that angle..well, a lot of bombouts.

i think sumo lifters do count on some level of less than accurate lockout. it's harder to get away with it conventional...along with some tendencies by people to puff their sleeves and other camouflage moves lately.

there is no question about tony harris though. :)

aloha, big man. hope to see you again someday along with the HI people...can't say when or where, but someday. when i probably least expect it.

takes a crazy puller to appreciate another one. :)

GOOD SQUAT

Tony Harris is Awesome!

why didnt that last squat pass?

Wow, this is a good squat!! Why the lift was not good??

I can't believe they called it for depth! I hate to be an internet judge...

I'd love an explanation on why it didn't pass.

I agree, I hate internet judging but that sucker looked good. Only thing I could think is his knees shot forward just a bit, which as you guys know make getting to depth a little deeper than it has to be. Awesome lifting though.

I was on the side for that squat and of all the squats that were called for depth last weekend, I happen to agree with that one. It happened so fast in person that it was really hard to judge but it was close. Cant bash the judges on this one.
