Been following Tuchscherer's training for a while, I think we're going to see some great numbers at RUM.

GOOD LUCK HAVE FUN

Wow, he can go over 2100.

great lifting. I like to enjoy very methodical and perfectionist type lifters like myself, however I also think the tendo unit is taking it a little too far. ;)

Best of luck to you Mike!

few people can train alone and compete on the level you do and continually improve

Holy *(^% that deadlift was insane

-Abe Harrod

Wow, just amazing. I love how his training is done in what looks like a little room in his basement.

P.S. what is the point of the weight releasers? Is it just to overload the eccentric?

Good luck Mike!

Goodluck!!! like that focus.
I wish Caleb williams was there!

In that squat, what's that line/small band for? I don't see one on the other side. Is it just a reference guide to see how straight he is?

Mike makes it look so easy… I wish I had that ability.

I believe that is a tendo unit. Nice lifting Mike.

.....now that`s powerlifting ...as it was intended.....I hope everyone on this site enjoyed that as much as I did .....pure power and talent ...nothing up his sleeve, no parlor tricks, no excuses ....."training" for a meet the same as he will lift in the meet. Can`t wait to shake your hand @ RUM.....Pat

Great lifting Mike! Plenty of strength to spare on that squat. You look to be good for 2100+.

that is amazing this guy is a freakin IPF World Champion and he trains alone i cant think of a better person to take the great Capt Kirk spot but Mike this guy is a true champion.......

Train like a Contender/And live like a Champion!

Eh, it would be more impressive if he'd cut his ROM by 30%, dub in some music with a rapper pretending to be a pimp and a guy from Jersey pretending to be a serial killer and then in the middle of his sets have a guy appear on camera who tells people that Mike's a freak who's does freaky stuff in a freaky way when it's time for the freaks to play.

I hope no one has answered this already, but it is a piece of plywood. It is just a board press where the board is thinner than a standard board (1.5 inches for a 2 x 4).

Looking good as always-you also look a lot leaner than last year-must have been baby fat being you're so young and all! I guess one doesn't need a big gut to be strong in powerlifting! Looking forward to seeing you again at RUM!

It measures force. It can be used to determine how much average force is exerted during a lift. An object will not move unless acted upon by a force exerted in the opposite direction of greater magnitude. So he is measuring how much his force output exceeds that needed to move the weight.

You're not pissing anyone off, you are just ruining a post about a great lifter, who by the way, competes geared and raw. I don't understand why these comments toward geared lifting are necessary on this thread. Great lifting Mike.

By the way that last comment was me. I forgot to put my name on it.

A few funny remarks doesn't change the news item. Mike's videos are still posted and the initial information isn't altered.

This website is great for obtaining information AND for entertainment so just stick to reading the news announcements if the comments irritate you.

I'm pretty sure 99% of the powerlifting world is a fan of Tuchscherer's lifting (except for maybe his direct competition, ha!)

...Yo...(sorry I`m from Brooklyn) Brad - lightin` up ...to get the joke you would`ve had to read the Lexen Xtreme "training" videos that are posted elsewhere on the site...any way it`s Seans fault anyway - he started it ....lol ...Maybe Brad should get a larger size briefs...his balls seem twisted ....can`t we just all get along ? ( apologies to Rodney King)

I'm with Brad on this one. Mike competes both RAW and equipt. He's a great lifter who's impressively strong. The childish crap in this thread isn't funny, it just takes away from the quality of the lifter the thread is about.

Bullshit. Day in and day out I log into this forum and see your nonstop negative BS about other lifters who CHOOSE to lift equipt. You seem to be unable to allow a thread mentioning geared lifting in any way to go without numerous posts about how its not real powerlifting. I for one am tired of reading your nonstop bullshit. One or two comments from time to time would be something done in good fun. This isn't good fun, this is you being annoying as hell. Sean, you've gotten to just about the same level of annoying asswad as Tim Bruner, maybe a little lower as far as I'm concerned and Tim Bruner was one annoying asshole on here. We all know your opinion. Please keep it to yourself.

Mike I apologize for posting this in a thread about your training.

My initial joke in this thread was:

"Eh, it would be more impressive if he'd cut his ROM by 30%, dub in some music with a rapper pretending to be a pimp and a guy from Jersey pretending to be a serial killer and then in the middle of his sets have a guy appear on camera who tells people that Mike's a freak who's does freaky stuff in a freaky way when it's time for the freaks to play."

So I was making fun of cutting squats high, cheezeball music and people telling people that they're freaks (hint: you don't have to tell anyone you're a freak if you really are because it's obvious.)

No mention of wearing industrial potato sacks or your grandma's underwire sports bra or anything like that in my first post.

Your knee jerk hyper defensive responses is what's sometimes irritating.

Caleb retired from powerlifting several years ago.

.....Again, I WAS a geared lifter , and all I did was ask the readers to compare the quality of the Tuchschere`s (raw) and Celli (geared) training lifts to the "training" lifts of the guys on the Lexen Xtreme Pro-am video. If you don`t see a marked difference in the quality of the reps in these videos then you`re lying to yourself...I don`t care if they`re geared or not. I won`t even address the issue of Celli`s & Tuchscherer`s were controlled & walked out ! UH OH !...now I did it - I said another bad word : walk-out!...lol....Now, before all you schizo`s start having seizures from your rising blood pressure, remember , I don`t care if the lifter is geared or not ...I`m looking only at the quality of the rep ...GOT IT ? Funny , probably most of the guys posting here aren`t even getting laid , ( how about you Sean ?...I`m gettin it pretty regularly)...but they`re worried about some silly powerlifting video. Put on some porno and come back relaxed and we`ll talk ......Pat

Mr. Susco, I assure you Sean doesn't have any "pull". Despite your attitude you appear to have a lifting pedigree, as opposed to that turd who does nothing but nip at peoples heels from the sidelines. Speaking of wanna be pimps and retarded antics, you ever sean Seans get up for clash of the push/pull? Never seen a more "wanna be pimp" look than a cheap Zeut Suit covering man boobs and a pacemaker scar or whatever. Those in glass houses, Sean...Is it getting cold in the shadow of raw unity- I've noticed no more than a brief.."congratulation!" or "awsome!" in the threads about Erics awsome meet. Just alot of mud slinging towards multi-ply lifters? Are you trying to take the conversations off-topic to take attention away from the BEST raw promotion?

Great lifting

Who is Sean Katterle? Hope I wrote that right. Who is this guy and wtf has he ever done!? Hopefully he has some training video's. If he's one of these fat asses he's probably not getting laid either.

Mike is down right incredible. Still in his prime and getting stronger, BIG props to you Mike.

Very impressive videos from an amazing lifter. I am anxious to see what he totals.

Mike is a great lifter. The crap that is posted in this topic makes me not want to come to this website anymore.

I'm no lifter. Just a fan of the sport. This is some amazing lifting from a massively strong bloke. Every geared lifter I've ever chatted with has nothing but respect for raw lifters, but it seems that the raw only crew hi-jack even threads highlighting their favoured aspect of the sport to bash geared lifters, which detracts from not only the achievements of Mike Tuchscherer's training but the sport of powerlifting as a whole. If you hop over to outlaw, I'm sure you can discuss your take on the geared side of the sport to your heart’s content, but please don't do it here. If there was a little more mutual respect for each side of powerlifitng, I really believe people could find the popularity of this amazing sport growing. But then again, who am I?

Dan,

Very wise words. I couldn't agree more.

I come from Holland, powerlifting is a small sport here and most lifters know each other. There is a lot of respect amongst the lifters for each others performance regardless of the lifters lifting geared or raw.

I think you made a very valid point.

And very impressive lifting by Mike. I wonder what he will total at the RUM. Goodluck.

Greetings from the Netherlands.

1) Every time a shirted bencher claims that they could raw bench 600 pounds in a contest, but simply "aren't interested" in doing so, they're disrespecting raw powerlifting (because, in reality, they CAN'T.)

2) Every time a techno lifter claims that they totaled such and such without clarifying how they got to the number (all the layers of shirts/suits, the monolift, the loose judging, ect.) they're disrespecting raw powerlifting. A 2,000 pound legit total is huge and some guy saying "I totaled 2,400" who couldn't break 2,000 without all the parlor tricks is discrediting those who worked for years to get to such a level for real (ya can't buy a total from a mail order website in reality.)

Throwing around those misleading numbers claims is very disrespectful.

Claiming that you could lift world class elite numbers but don't because you're not interested in doing so is disrespectful.

Calling your records "all time" when in fact you're not the all time STRONGEST in your real weight class (no 24-48 hour joke weigh ins) is disrespectful.

If people would just keep it real there wouldn't be hardly any drama between powerlifters and equipment lifters. No one minds when a guy with a 405 raw bench says "I shirt benched 600 pounds." If anything, people would say "Nice work! You're really mastered that shirt and gotten a lot out of it."

Don't play the victim in this debate,
Sean

He's a guy who's involved in powerlifting. He promotes a few meets as well as stuff like bench for reps competitions.
Some people are a little irritated with him because he takes a pretty tough stance against loose judging and some even claim he is anti equipment.
Some question his intent. If he does it for love of powerlifting or to promote himself.
He seems to gained respect over the last year.

Has Mr. Sean Katterle ever lifted? How can someone who promotes the sport shit all over its lifters? A promoter of the sport? huh?

When I see a lifter like Mike Tuchscherer walk out a bar and squat to depth with more than 2.5 times his body weight and no crew of spotters, wearing only a belt and knee sleeves, my jaw drops. I have no problem with equipped lifters and monolift squats, but this is pure power that anyone can plainly see and easily quantify. No guessing about what percent is gear versus muscle.

Best to Mike at RUM. Should be an awesome meet for anyone lucky enough to attend.

Curiousity has gotten the best of me anonymous, killing time on my day off. I thought that with all his insight on powerlifting he might have some pretty cool training video's to show all of us how to lift. Well just killing time today; off from lifting. As for myself, I compete primarily raw yet I've also lifted equipped. I love this sport and love training more so than competing. I do squat deep enough and yes I do walk out my squats as well.

Not one bit of that changes the fact that your constant bashing and double standards are annoying.

Sean, can you seriously shut the fuck up! Enough talking, enough with getting in the last word. I am sure I can speak on behalf of the majority when I say that you are wrecking a good thing by redirecting the attention from Mike to yourself. You are more annoying than yappy teenage girls. Go get em', Mike!!

Also, I like how you (Sean) try to explain your accomplishments in order to somehow plug your own advertising. You must have a small dick or something to be that insecure, man!

Truth is most of you guys bashing Sean are screwing up this thread more than Sean. If you don't want Sean to continually comment than you should try shutting up yourselves so as not to give him a reason to keep engaging you.

Yeah Glenn it really is that simple--I shouldn't stoop to their level.

It goes without saying Mike T is the next "Coan like" lifter

First off Glenn, as high lighted in "Grattons" post, my original post "profusely" congratulated Tuchscherer`s lifts ...so what`s the problem ? Now to both of you....Gratton have you ever seen me lift ? Glenn that`s the difference between you and I , as I watched, studied, learned (admired & repected) the lifters who preceeded me in the sport ...Mike Lambert thought enough of my abilities to feature me on the cover of "PLUSA" 17 years ago and "POWERLIFTING VIDEO" 10 years ago...let me know when he contacts you guys for a photo shoot !!...lol...oh Glenn ,nice touch putting NGBB "ELITE" under your name ...definetly commands respect here ! and lastly, Gratton what does STFU mean ?

Pat,

I thought I new all the relevant "Greats" of the sport, I guess I never heard of you. Good job on the cover of PL USA, as North Georgia Barbell members have had several covers(with Goggins, Bohigan, Albano and Byrd, not me yet) and as you may know the gym has produced some of the best lifters in it's short lifespan(since 2002). I post NGBB Elite with pride as I am one of the current elite lifters, I do multi-ply, single and raw and have some descent numbers in each at 220 and 242.

My point was to not knock something that you don't do, I do know you lifted in gear but nothing close to what is done now(i heard about some barefoot thing though you did). The sport is changed, just don't get caught up in the "when I did it everyone competed with ace bandages and had to squat with my ass on the floor and had to pause my BP while the head judge went to the bathroom type shit". We all know that shit lifts have happened in every fed since it began so don't go high and mighty on us, I've seen the footage and you know it happened. Enjoy the videos for entertainment and keep doing your thing, whatever that may be.
