Scott Layman Records WPF WR Squat

Scott Layman (148) recorded a WPF World Record squat of 606 pounds at the federation's Powerlifting, Bench Press and Deadlift World Championships which took place November 10-15 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The former record of 600 pounds was held by Darren Matsumoto.

Layman won gold at 148 with a 1,499 pound total. That ranks him fourth on the Powerlifting Watch Lifter Rankings.

Layman added a 363 pound bench press and 529 pound deadlift.

I thought you were one of the most impressive lifters at the Worlds, and I thought your 606squat was actually the most impressive of the whole meet!

Scotty congrats! U make me laugh when u ask me to watch ur depth in the warm up room...im like yeah ur high...2 inches high from the floor! Nice squats!

Hahaha, man that squat was awesome,,,, you can cut the depth in half man, and add much more. Looking good, you obviously have more in you.

One of the most under rated lifters out there. He does it both raw and single ply. Wow 4X+ BW squat.... In addition he gives back ot the sport. I do not know him well at all. However, I have met @ least two or three younger lifters that have said, "I train with Scott in his garage." Considering I do few meets and keep to myself I am pretty impressed I have met that many that he takes the time to school. He represents the sport well.
