WDFPF Worlds Results

Results have been posted for the WDFPF Powerlifting World Championships which were held on Saturday and Sunday in Milton Keynes, England.

The men's raw competition was taken by Ukrainian Olexiy Nazarenko (220). Nazarenko posted a 1,686 pound (765kg) total. That is good for 24th in the world on the Powerlifting Watch Power Rankings. Nazarenko was followed by England's Simon Marshall (220) who finished at 1,681 pounds (762.5kg). That gives Marshall the 31st spot on the Power Rankings. Fellow countryman Stuart Ford (148) grabbed the final podium position with a 1,251 pound (567.5kg) total.

Germany's Mariyana Marinova (55.5) took the women's raw action. Her 733 pound (332.5kg) total ranks her sixteenth on the Power Rankings. Belgium's Helen Wuyts (63) finished behind Marinov with a 771 pound (350kg) day. That gives Wuyts the eighteenth spot on the Power Rankings. Scot Mary Anderson (80) rounded out the top three, totaling 920 pounds (417.5kg).

England's Matt Saunders (220) came out on top in the equipped competition. His 1,818 pound (825kg) total gave him the victory over Russian Maxim Tikhonov (275), who totaled 1,929 pounds (875kg). England's Mark Norton (242) was third with 1,791 pounds (812.5).

For the women, Anderson won another podium, this time claiming the top spot. Anderson totaled 1,135 pounds (515kg) to edge out Wuyts, who also had her second podium finish. Wuyts registered a 903 pound (410kg) total. American Judy Gedney (47.5) totaled 589 pounds (267.5kg) to round out the podium.

American lifters captured seven weight class podium finishes in total.

Herbst finished 13th in the raw 165's and second in his age group. Overall and age group placings were recorded on the results.
