GPC Bench Press Worlds Results

Results are posted for the GPC Bench Press World Championships which took place yesterday and today in Saint Dizier, France. The Powerlifting World Championships kick off tomorrow and run through Sunday.
Russian Yulia Medvedeva (165) was named the best female bencher for her 380 pound (172.5kg) bench press. The press ranks her eleventh on the all-time rankings. Medvedeva also won the best lifter award at this year's IPF Junior World Powerlifting Championships. Marina Medvedeva (132) was runner-up, pressing 264 pounds (120kg).
Ukrainian Sergii Polutin (242) won the award on the men's side. Polutin pressed 705 pounds (320kg). Israel's Eyal Hasson (220) followed closely with a 677 pound (307.5kg) press. Hasson hit 683 pounds (310kg) on a fourth attempt. Rounding out the podium was Russia's Sergey Starodubskiy (242) posting a 699 pound (317.5kg) effort. Slovakia's Marcel Matej (220) placed fourth overall, and second to Hasson in a tight battle at 220. Matej pressed 666 pounds (302.5kg), making 679 pounds (308kg) on a fourth.
America's lone competitor, Edward Dudley-Robey, was unable to compete.
