Tom Emelander Goes 700 & 700 at WABDL Worlds
Submitted by Staff on November 3, 2009 - 7:43am.
On Saturday, Tom Emelander (259) became only the third lifter in WABDL history to bench press and deadlift 700 pounds when he hit exactly 700 in each at the WABDL World Championships in Reno, Nevada. Only Jani Murtomaki and John Hudson, both superheavyweights, have done it before.
Emelander finished second in the bench press and first in the deadlift events.
His press ranks him 28th and his deadlift eighteenth on the Lifter Rankings.
Emelander attempted a new open World Record of 711 pounds on his fourth attempt but came up short. He also hit his 655 pound opener and 677 pound second attempt.
