I got this when I clicked the roster link: "An Error Has Occurred!

Also, it takes you to a USPF site. Is that the same as the WPF?

Sorry, I'm easily confused by the seemingly endless alphabet combinations for all the federations. Then again, I find all the boxing and MMA groups mystifying as well, so maybe it's just me....

Here's a PDF copy of the WPF Worlds roster found on the USPF California forum.

http://www.powerliftingca.com/sites/default/files/downloads/forms/2009_WPF_World_PL,_BP,_DL.pdf

In light of the recent discussions of the US lifters being no shows at the meet in UK despite Batcheldor promoting it.

It's not just the APF/WPC who's got this problem with US lifters not being prepared to face international competition on foreign ground.

I think Great Britain are sending around 30 lifters to this WPF World Championships.

Last year USPF sent 12 or 13 lifters to Austria for the WPF there.

What is the problem?

the problem is this "anonymous" guy that keeps stirring shit on every article...

for people that don't follow world events here is an updates

the recession is over... everywhere in the world but the USA

Vegas is one of the most internationally accessible destinations in the world as well.
Travel and hotel accomodations for the whole week added up to slightly under $300 for me. Food is actually going to be my biggest expense and I'll be cutting weight for half the time I'm there!

A winner says "I'm good, but not as good as I ought to be;" a loser says "I'm not as bad as a lot of other people".

i think you missed the fat that at last years world's Nerijus cekas was second place to sigfus and could have won if his bench shirt didnt BLOW! Sigfus is out this year so it blows the best lifter trophy miles open

Pall Logason totalled 1000kgs as a JUNIOR as is returning!

IRELAND won the best team event at last years worlds and this years EPC champs and will send an equally as strong team with all of their winners returning in top form. Also included in this fold is returning champ Bernie Delaney who has benched 260kgs in a full meet.

there is much more to this comp than pointed out.

Don't forget that Jim Potts will be gunning for some bench recognition and some old fart named Courtney Stanley could take best lifter in Masters and Zac Trembly could take best lifter in Junior division as well.

Arwyn Brain is gonna take the 75kg junior title!

As reigning champ i might have something to say about that.

I plan on winning the title for most calories consumed at the buffet. Any challengers?

good luck to Becky Rich and Mark Bell, but I still got my money on Ireland! I'll take those drunk redhead irishmen anyday!

For the record! There as been NO team submitted from England for the 2009 WPF World Championships, only the Great Britain. Therefore, please note this fact and ensure you correct all the incorrect data on this matter.

I think Ireland and every other country coming to the WPF Worlds is going to be demolished and demoralized by the overwhelming strength of the American team.
Lance Karabel, Scott Smith, Scott Layman, Chris Pappillion, Keith Mitchell, and Ed Kinsey.

Take a look at their numbers from Nationals and other meets. I don't think the Brits, Ireland, or Iceland team will even be close. They might win one wt class but that's it.

What about the german lifters? They will compete also in Las Vegas...

Arrrrg.
I know I am not the only one that is injured and I am not going to bitch much about it. BUT last year I did get in a good total and win the title I wanted after a batle for the best lifter agains Nerijus cekas and my own country man Thorvaldur the Meetball. But this year was going to be so much bigger. I was getting so many big names, and so many good lifters. It was my time to shine. I have never been this strong, but I will have to wait my turn. It is not this year. I am happy though that the title I wannted will go to a lifter that does deserve to get it. I will challange you next year for the title I wannt.
I am still hopeing to recover for the meet, but I am not to confident in it. But we will see. If not I will just have to take the benchpress competition and try and win that.

No disrespect but that is BULLSHIT. The Icelandic economy is much much worse then the US one. Our currency has gone down 50%, so a trip to Vegas has gone up 100% for us, and every thing we need to live has done the same. But we are lifters, we live for the sport. We will get by as long as we can lift and compete.

Anyone know where next years worlds are being held?

Bath, England

Hey Priest you have got to enter the WBC World Buffet Challenge. It will be held after the WPF each night. The winner of the contest will receive a life time supply of Alka-Seltzer and a life time supply of Pepto-bismo.And will also win the prestegious Golden Plunger Aworde.

HEY Rich Lopaz and Mike Womack that offer goes out to you guys also. What ever you do don't miss the WBC.This might be the last chance you well ever have to win the prestegious GOLDEN PLUNGER aword.

You call this a world meet! Only a half dozen world class lifters. Look at the SPF/APF/IPA they are a higher caliber. Lifters that are going just make sure they don't weigh you out in the the open. From what I observed at the uspf olympia you have to do hula squat to get white lights. Judges can't give a legit white light they want approval from each other

at least the WPF has other nations other than the USA.

James, just 'cause you had issues with the USPF during the Olympia doesn't mean the lifters showing to the WPF Worlds are low caliber. You too would have contested had you not had a run in with D.J.

Don't sit here and pour sour milk on the upcoming Worlds - you don't like the USPF - that's on you. Lift in a different place - but stop throwing sour grapes and trying to stir the pot.

Let bygones be bygones and go your way - make yourself a name in some different Fed, but get over the weighin incident.

242 Game Over!!!

Good luck Chris!!......I enjoyed meeting you at Nationals and really admire your enthusiasm...courtney

"USPF....the Legend continues......"

tell me one name of Germany lifter who will compete in Las Vegas..

Peter Malfa from Germany?

I don't think the 242s know what thet are up against keith mitchell is solid and chris pappillions total at the mike womack classic was an easy 2110 were he broke the american record on bench with a 633 and just missed 661 at the top. He could go over 2200 easy on a good day I don't see any one beating tose two in that class. Good luck Keith and chris !!!!!

We did not get GERMANY UP FAST ENOUGH...Here is their Team Roster:
GERMANY TEAM ROSTER

"USPF....the Legend continues......"

my opener for the WBC is going to be at about 5500 calories in 10 minutes. the next day ill bump it up to 7k and ill go balls out on the third attempt with 10k

I dont care who you are the golden plunger aword belongs to me. I'm going to win it hands down.

WBC forever baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How do i find out more information about the WBC.It sounds like a fun contest and i would like to enter. What day will it start and time. And how much to enter.

Who is the judge of who is considered an Elite Lifter...Are you referring to folks who have put up bigger numbers under lesser conditions? I could break the 100 meter record if you gave me a 30 meter head start...so don't bring up the SPF/APF/IPA James you know the judging is extremely loose and they commonly pass bad lifts.

There is an enormous difference between squat depth in the USPF and APF or IPA..several inches not to mention tthe gear. Even though the rules are the same they are not followed the same...Come on how many big bench presses have you seen from the APF and IPA that are obviously bad get passed?? Answer A LOT!

So it is fine to compete there and USPF also...just can"t compare the feds lifters it is almost a different sport altogether.

Great! now with that was said. Now lets talk about the most important thing when it comes to the WPF. And that would be the WBC.1. How many people are going to enter?2. How much food can a powerlifter eat in a short amount of time?3.Can a woman powerlifter eat more then a male powerlifter? I am hopeing that just some of the important questions i am looking for will be answerd.Hopefully we can have a hall of fame started for the winers of each class. As this will be the first people both male and female to set world records history will hve been made. Later on i can see all the feds getting togather and haveing one big WBC.The only thing i could see that might alter the results would be the absence of drug testing. So should we drug test or not.If we don't later on the IPF,USAPL,AAU,WABDL,NASA well i dont think NASA will but the other four will for sure, will say that the results can not be accepted for the one resson drug testing was never done.So the only obstacle that i can see the the first hall of famers would have.So should they test or not, who cares this is are Worlds if you made it you erned it. There has been alot of crap said by soure grape people that didnt make it, and people that have never even lifted in are fed. Just to upset are Worlds to hell with all of those people. To lifters that might not have made it sorry, and to the one's that did make you are the best of the best that the USPF has to offer. And that is something to be proud of. Don't let the others take that away from you.All of you have erned te right to be there, but most of all have fun it's been a long road and you made it. Good Luck to all and have a ball at the Worlds.

I am eager to see how Mark Bell comes back. Every one assumed he was not gonna compete in the U.S.P.F because he spoke his mind about the judgeing at nationals. I know he will be prepared for this meet and if he is on his game he will dominate his class. Good luck Mark !!!!!!

If you want the truth about Mark Bell it was a ploy to get less compation at the WBC this year. But it didnt work Mark. I think Mark is going to get his ass kicked big time at the WBC this yr. European championship results with the germans can be found on the WPF website. www.wpfpowerlifting.com

A final update will be coming.

Google the name on the list in your class. That is what I did. A bunch of the other guys/gals came up in the meet from my search. The German Lifters seem to be pretty solid when you look at the numbers.

The competition looks good this year, Im glad to see the Priest coming to the meet, missed you at Nats.

Looking for Big PR in Bench!

Google is my friend!

Mark Bell does full meets not just benchpress. It is easy to be good at one thing.

Best of luck to all the lifters!!!

This is going to be a fun Worlds now that the lifters are starting to get into it. No bad vibs any more the way it should be. I did notice a comment about Mark Bell and the WBC. It looks to me like there are some big names that are going to be competing. Mark If you enter it, it dose not look good for you. Good luck to all lifers and have fun,I know i will.

Hi Guys just to set this straight the (IPO Irish Powerlifting Organisation ) As in the Irish team ( IRELAND ) Is made up of 32 counties in total. 26 in the republic, 6 in Northern Ireland. So i think that answers the question.

Please, child. None of those lifters could shine Mark's shoes, so just step off pal. If I'm not mistaken, doesn't Mark still hold the highest total in the USPF for the 308s?????

Dan, I think you’ve confused powerlifting with powereating. They are two very different sports. Anonymous is referring to the WBC (World Buffet Challenge). We know Mark can post an elite total in powerlifting, but to the best of my knowledge he hasn’t even posted a total yet in an official powerating meet …so that makes him a novice. Any fatties that think WBC is a sure win should remember the Hot Dog King. He was a little guy and he destroyed an obese line-up of athletes.

Sorry Dan H but i just don't see Mark being able to keep up with compation in the WBC. Its really tuff this year there are some real contenders.Even if the Wilks calorie formula were to be applied. He will get spanked thats just a fact you'r wrong.

Well one things for sure with Kevin Meskew and Gordy Santee as refs for the WBC this yaer. Who ever enters the WORLD BUFFET CHALANGE will have to work hard to win the prestegious GOLDEN PLUNGER aworde. For sure its not going to be easy.good luck to all WPF lifters

There scared of you Richard!!!

I'll put my money on Rich Lopez there won't be any person in the WBC that can consume as much food as he can. They might just as well give him the GOLDEN PLUNGER aworde when enters the front door. I know all eyes will be upon him. The rest of the contestants will know what pure fear is when he comes in. Good luck to all

i cant understand why lifters from ireland and europe wont enter for some reason the gpc worlds in france or wpc worlds in england that are nearer than vegas i know they have boss suites and monolifts that are legal bench shirts single ply and yet avoid the federations that the strongest lifters compete in, the american guys will blow all these lifters out of the water as these guys compete in every federation ,and well done to them
