What does "single ply" mean in SPF? Briefs allowed or no briefs? Either case impressive lifting by Charles Bailey.

SIngle Ply gear is Single ply suit, single ply briefs, and single ply shirt

Looked through those results, didn't see the Masked Bencher anywhere. Or the Trailer Park Mafia.

Single ply suit ,Single ply legged briefs,2.5 wraps also a Mono-Lift using a Power Squat Bar.

Still a strong squat....1005@308/275

i just read through some of those results and am hoping someone can explain the weight classes to me. there are listings there for a 259lb. class a 214lb. class? is this for real or are they typos or what?

Yes I am say the SPF has always had a 259 Class and so has a few others. We were also one of the first few to have a 308 class too. We have had the 259 and the 308 class since day one (11 years). We are the SPF and we go by our own rules, not someone elses.

fair enough thanks for taking the time to answer

They should re check their math some of the numbers do not add up to the totals. Just an observation.

Marching The Path Of Strength, Through GOD

I'm sure the meet was really fun and Jesse is a nice guy but...

If you look closely, some of the totals do not add up.

E.g in the Raw Super heavies, John Reece went 450-350-500. This is a 1300 total, not 1380.

That is why he tells everyone to check the totals when they are posted and if there is any mistakes e-mail him and let him know. He says he is human and can make a mistake, did no e-mail him or just stick it out here to complain about. Again it goes back to that helper or complainer thing again.

Jesse Rodgers is a great guy. But there are a few corrections to be made.

Melissa Garrett's weight.

In every meet she's done before, she's weighed in at around 350, and she looked to be around the same size and definitely not any weaker.

Thanks guys for catching that for me, I do make a mistake or two once in a while and tell everyone to check and make sure things are right. Anyone that stirs at a computer all day playing with numbers are bound to get something wrong, plus my little fat fingers sometimes hit the wrong keys. LOL thanks for the help. Jesse Rodgers

Since this is your 2nd anon post about my weight, I'll be happy to address it. Why you follow it so closely I would like to know.

miss_6ft2@yahoo.com

I was 359 for weigh-ins. exact same weight i was at APF sr's last spring (my last full meet) and i was in the same gear, actually less gear as this meet I pulled raw.

I'm guessing you are the same ANON that posts about my weight every time there is something on here about me.

Same weight, same gear, 160 PR total. Why do you care what i weigh?

I drop a lil during strongman, but have struggled with PCOS and thyroid issues for several years. Other than those issues i would be willing to be I'm one of the healthiest fat girls you will ever know.

do your thing Melissa. Ever considered a USAPL meet? with today's single ply gear you could probably bench an easy 450 and put that record out of reach for a while.

Alex Campbell the USAPL TN chair has asked me a few times to do a meet. And I do appreciate his invite.

My comments may not go over well, but I'm usually a blunt person so here goes.

I'm NOT a fan of the USAPL's rules. I can bench flat footed, flat backed, head down, with a start command, in the dark, in the rain, wearing a purple singlet, in high heels, and a push up bra, and fishnet hose.
I have never voted in a US election, i'm so NON-politcal, I dont want to play those games. I rarely post on any forums and sometimes i get ready to post but bite my fingertips/tongue instead.
Now i'm rambling-on. I think the start command and some of the other USAPL rules are crazy, just my opinon and i'm very titled to it.

Melissa I love you, you tickle the hell out of me. If you ever decide to wear all that stuff that you mentioned at a meet please let us know ahead of time, that would be great,LOL.

Melissa, we should make out in public.

Putt Houston.... now with Ridiculous BCWW

Way to tell it like it is MG!! I'm with the same views as you concerning the USAPL! MG it was great to share the platform with you again! You had a great day. Thank Christ you are here to set us straight...

Sponsored by APT, House of Pain, Jenkins Chiropractic, BMF Sports & Titan

I know you are mad because she can out total most of you men in the IPF and this hurts your feeling but you better leave her alone because she can probably kick your ass too, and if she does none of your friends are strong enough to pull her off of you and all of us SPF members will just stand there and watch.

Do us a favor and dont worry about what we do and worry about your own federation and offer them advice we dont need it. We have a 259 weight class and a 308, you dont like it and we dont care. We might add in a 350 weight just to piss you off, LOL

Considering the nature of many of the posts over the last couple of days, I'd like to take the opportunity to discuss something that I saw at SPF Worlds. The judges were sitting in CHAIRSv during both days of the meet. I'm not talking FOLDING chairs either, but REAL chairs with CUSHIONS and a SOLID frame. Can you believe that? They dared to have judges with comfortable butts... Its attrocious. Its going to ruin powerlifting forever because the judges didn't sit on folding chairs where they could develop significant butt discomfort during the meet.

Judges with comfortable butts completely ruins the credibility of the sport. I mean seriously, the judges haven't always had comfortable butts, why should they suddenly be allowed to have a comfortable butt? No where in the rule book does it say that a judges butt must be comfortable. It can be hairy, sweatty, smelly, even a just a tiny bit poopy, but comfortable, thats not specified in the rule book of the SPF or any other federation for that matter.

Its terrible and its ruining powerlifting. Originally they just copied what another federation, one where the judges werent allowed to have smelly butts or comfortable butts, but changed it because... well because uncomfortable, smelly butts are not happy butts.

Can you all now see how stupid this shit keeps getting? Come on people......

I'm going to nominate Jesse Rodgers for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2010. The way things are, he's got a great chance of winning. LOL

Standard metal frame, single ply cushion. no foot rest.

There are rumors circulating on some of the internet forums that one of the judges stuffed a knee wrap under his cushion, thereby giving himself an unfair advantage of being able to judge squat depth from a slightly higher angle.

Quite frankly, I'm not surprised. This is the kind of stuff that ruins judging. It's bad enough that the cushion materials and technology keep improving, making the judges judge more and more accurately. Then we have federations that allow two or three cushions, with extra long/wide towels on top of those cushions. Those judges can't even get into the proper judging positions because of all these advances in cushion technology. It is making a mockery of judging.

I for one would like to see us go back to the basics: just a folding metal chair and a proper chair height. Some federations allow judges to place a towel on the chair, but I think that dilutes the whole idea of uncushioned judging. It's only a matter of time until some towel manufacturer will come up with a towel which will be too similar to an actual chair cushion. Although there are some judging purists who call for judges to just sit on the floor while judging, but I think that's going too far. You are just begging for a butt injury if you try to judge without a chair all together.

But isn't this about judges butt comfort? Thats the important thing. That the judges have comfortable butts. The purist floor-sitters seem to really be missing the point with that. I mean, how many floor-sitters do you see any more and just how long can they sit on the floor? This is about time spent sitting too. When you floor-sit it takes longer to get up, there is the risk of knee pain, even injury. I personally sure don't want a judge with a butt injury judging. That could be a real pain in the ass. .

The bottom line is, if you can't judge with your butt on the floor or a folding metal chair, then you shouldn't judge period. It's all about what YOU can judge, not what your chair can. If we keep up this chair race, someone will come up with a robotic chair with hydrolics and sensors, where we won't even need the judge in that chair. The chair will do ALL the judging without the need for a human judge.

I say to hell with all this chushy chair nonsense. Just whip out an old rusty folding chair, sit your butt on it, and judge like the they used to judge back in the days.

Enough about the butts and chairs, I am sure if Jesse is nonamated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2010 he will but recliners for all judges and even hire some card girls to spice things up even more.

There is a lot of pictures up on the website from the meet. Thanks everyone for coming out, it was a great meet thanks to all of you. Jesse Rodgers
