Eric Talmant bombed? Isn't he a raw lifter?

www.AllStrengthTraining.com

Eric has been training in gear for a few meets. He bombed in the squat.

What the hell happened to Mark Bell. The new judging rule made him take a 275lb raw bench?

275 at 308, that is a serious rule change.

I counted about 50 DQ's. How can you say the judging wasn't screwed up? I hope the drama gets fixed before worlds.

those werent all the bombs. there were more bombs on friday. 10+ bombs on friday and only 6 on saturday.

hah

Out of the 70 lifters that started the meet on friday, 50 finished. so much so that two flights had to be combined on one of the platforms.

my flight on saturday started with 15 and ended the day with 10.

The judging does not look all that tight. I haven't sen a video yet with a call that didn't favor the lifter. Some of the squats would have been passed in other federations but they aren't good in a fed that calls by the rulebook.

mark bell did the smart thing so he could compete at worlds. he knew how strict the judgeing was so he took the smart road to stay in the meet. He was blowing shit up in the warm up room. He is an awsome lifter can't wait to see what he does at worlds. his opener was well over 800 on bench but his shirt would not touch. I think he would have pressed it the way he looked in the warm up room.

Are you going to worlds chris?

I will be there

I see Tawzr only did 225 he is a 400lb bencher.Whats going on?

i like how everyone is saying the judging was fine from watching videos of sat and sun

where are the ones of fri which is when all the bombs happened and the complaints were?

Mark is a strong bencher though. My point is what is his best raw bench and why did he only take 275. That seems insanely low for such a strong man.

If you take a raw opener, it needs to be low enough that you lead off the flight and then have time to put on your shirt. If he had opened with a heavy raw bench around 500, which he was clearly capable of, he would have been near the end of the flight. It was not packed with good benchers. Other than Jim Hoskinson, no one finished with over 500 lbs...even in a shirt.

Here's a PDF update on the results. Had to go back and recheck every score card and update a few items.

Its funny people have the nuts to question a great lifter. you want to talk about mark bell I suggest u put over 800 pounds on your bench opener and see if you can even get it of the rack. Mark Bell is the truth so before you say something about him compare your numbers to his. Other than that shut up and try to learn something from him.

As a teenage lifter I find this fact amazing and inspiring. The average age of the 9 open men weight class was 40. That seems old to me. But it does give me hope.

Seriously don't be an asshole. If you are refering to my comment about Mark opening light then back the hell up. I know he is a great lifter and have a ton of respect for him. I didn't understand why opening light was better than taking a 500 bench then gearing up. God people jump to conclusions and get pissed. Fuck!!

I never thought about this. I would have said open heavy then go for it, but you are right. Great point. Learned something new today I guess.
Thanks man.
