I know I haven't seen him lift in competition personally, but from everything I have heard he is great in the gym, but has a hell of a time on the platfrom. I hope he destroys the record though. This guy is strong as hell and very impressive. He has a long way to go before he is done.

It's amazing that this is all done by himself in his garage. No one else around for support. Gets even crazier when he squats and benches with no one around. Just a bunch of Xmas decorations piled up in the back!

I agree it is crazy the way he just gets it done. No music hype or any nonsense just plain and simple strength and power. Very very impressive. Good luck. I had the pleasure of lifting with John Kuc in 1986 and he was a great lifter his record has stood the test of time. It would be quite a feat for it to be broken. The plates add up to 880#. From outside in 2.5lb - 25lb - 100lb - 45lb - 45lb - 100lb - 100lb = 417.5 per side x 2 = 835 + 45lb Bar = 880lb. Zoom in at mid pull and add it up. That doesn't include the spring clamps.

Nevermind the 880#. The outer wheels are 45's. Looked like a 100lb'er. Wishful thinking. Still impressive none the less.

Imagine how much work Mike puts in each training sessions just LOADING his own weights !!

I closed my eyes and just listened to the video the first time. In my mind, there was a funreal procession with what sounded like a heavy casket being moved. After a weird three pistol salute, the casket settled and the priest began the ceremony with "Glory to God...." and then the video stopped. LOL
