Charles Bailey Goes Big at 275

Charles Bailey registered one of the biggest 275 class squats and totals in single ply history on Saturday at the SPF Powerlifting and Bench Press National Championships in Nashville, Tennessee. Guys should just squat in single ply almost same carryover with better depth

Squat was high. Cry all you want about my remark but his squat wasn't nearly as deep as Andrey's single ply 1036.

thanks man for your input. I'll try and take it deeper next time.

Hey anonymous, what video are you looking at? give the man his due, that squat was on and strong.
If you are going to criticize, post your name

Great lifting Big Daddy! that squat was DEEP as hell I was there and was in the same flight I was sitting in a place off to the side and could see it very clear. Very deep! He is also a class act my back was cramping very bad and he came over and worked some magic on me. Very nice and down to earth guy. You hardly even new he was there till he walked to the platform and destroyed his lifts!
Thanks for your help Charles nice lifts..

Wow, very nice. But if you could squat a little deeper for all you anon. fans that would be good HAHA. Solid lifting congrats!

I will agree that Andrey's 1036 deeper squat was truly impressive...

but that squat was not high. I can see that a mile away, he broke parallel for sure. All you gotta do is break that plane by a cheez-it turned sideways and its all good. Sorry... you're dead wrong!

Charles.. that was the shZit man. Great job and congratulations... you're the KING of the ring now in single ply.

Putt Houston.... now with Ridiculous BCWW

Squat looked great, really nice lifting Charles. You are the man!

Nice to see you @ the meet Charles. 1005 was fast. plenty more. Hope you enjoyed the music. :)

I read comments and then watched expecting a high squat but that looked plenty deep enough for me. that kind of angle always make squats seem high. crazy strong squat and total.

Awesome squat.

Not a damned thing wrong with that squat. As for Malanichev's squat....So now we not only compare weights, but we have a "pissing contest" over who went farther below parallel?! Come on, guys, Charles squatted an assload of weight and very obviously broke parallel. He doesn't have to go 6" below for it to count!

Big Daddy, you are the MF'ing MAN! Great job!

Bailey, i enjoyed watching your lifts this weekend and thanks for the help you gave my buddy lifting and all the help i saw you give out to other lifters. We need more like you in this sport. squat was more than deep enough, i saw it from eight foot away on the side.........

i would like to thank my sponsor ELITEFTS for all there help.i would also like to thank everyone for all the positive comments it's every much appreciated. i also respect the negative post also after all everyone is entitled to his or her opinion i guess.

i fully expected the the group from the IPF or what ever to come out and picket my squat. i really don't care who likes it .i do what i do and where i do it is my business.

now if the comment in the above post above where meant to disparage the SPF let me say this the meet was an experience. what i mean is from the hotel,mono-lift,benches,warm up area , music down to the trophies was top notch Mr. Rodgers went all out.

you know it seems to me that it's about time for power-lifting to grow up. the constant putting down and tearing apart has become so common place it's getting boring.

i mean the only thing i can say is i do this for fun. there's no money being made here as a power-lifter.

the reason i do so many different Feds.is because i like variety it keeps me interested and it lets me know were i stand in those federation and i have a better overall picture of my ranking.

I have to say one thing i don't think most anonymous post are done by good lifters or any lifter that love the sport . i may be wrong but i can count the amount of asshole I've meant at meets on i hand.

i would like to thank JESSE RODGERS for putting on a great meet ,the spotters for saving lives ,the judges for for calling it FAIR and TIGHT all day.

i also would like to thank Melissa Garrett the music was great.

That was great lifting 2400 in single ply is amazing. Nice job the squat was good no doubt there looked great. Ken Ufford

Charles is a great guy and a great lifter. Squat looks good to me.

No slam against him at all but I thought it was generally agreed that most people can't walk out as big a squat as they can get in a monolift. I realize it's single ply gear but there still has to be some difference. If he'd walked it out of the mono, there'd be no question...

Can't wait to see Charles duplicate it at the USPF Nationals in July with Cartwright, Bell, Karabel, Best, and Smith. This will be one helluva meet to watch.

I gave the lift 3 reds because he is black....
I mean lets face it odds are his genetics are way better then mine. My dad is a 5'4 accounting nerd. Try lifting with that as your pedigree. Clearly Charles genetics must be better then that. There for the lift is no good!

Charles Great work, I thought you should have tried that for a double. No one seems to care that Chuck is 2 weigh classes below the other 2 1000 pound squatters. That is a big deal.
I think if you can get your feet out that wide when you do walk the weight out you might just get a 1000 pound squat in the USPF.

Why would anyone think this lift discredits powerlifting? He went into a certain fed with certain rules and followed them. Would the USPF guys like to follow the IPF rules to make the lift more legit?

Best of luck to you, hope to see you at USPF Nationals.

Excellant job Big Daddy. I enjoyed reading your interview in PL USA. That was one hell of a squat and a fantastic day overall. Very inspiring.

The dude that said that squat was high is an idiot.... BIG DADDY you buried that mother effer and you smoked it like a freakin joke! I think your next goal should be to squat that weight in the uspf since you compete there... Squat a grand walking it out and shut up these cry babies....Keep doing what ur doing big man!

jeremy

Hey, Big Daddy, are you still posting your training logs? I always liked to check your out on EFS, but have not seen them in a while. In other words, "Where you at?"

Really awesome squat and total Charles! Keep up the good work

Charles it was a pleasure to meet you, great to finally get to watch you lift. Job well done.

Solid lifting Charles.

You suck hairy Klingon assholes !

Not only was it legit, it didn't stall one bit. Nice dunk wit da' half ton, hoss.

WOW, now squats aren't good if you don't go lower than the next guy, forget breaking parallel, just throw out the rulebook!LOL!

Great job Charles! You have inspired others to go and compete everywhere to really test your strength. I look forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks!

Congrats again!

Charles, it was a great pleasure meeting you at the meet.

Also, thank you for stoking my fires.... after I hit what I thought was a big PR squat, you stepped up and smoked over a grand. Thanks for giving me a new goal to work towards, I appreciate it.

GOOD JOB!!!

I read an EFS article where Charles talked about wanting to give the USAPL/IPF a try. Dunno if he ever got around to that, but Charles, you should really think about it. You could definitely give Mike Tuchscherer a run for his money, and you would definitely be an asset to Team USA.

"You could definitely give Mike Tuchscherer a run for his money"

Don't know about that one...but it might be cool to see :-P

why assume any negative comments are from IPF lifters?

Squat looked good, locked out at the start, looked deep enough and then stood up and locked out again

I would love to see it done in the uspf

thanks everyone for all the kind words . i guess i'm not as big of an asshole as i thought i was. lol

now to those that know me i like to let my lifting do all my talking for me.

i don't bitch when loose or things go bad it's all part of the experience to me.

like I've always said find a venue put us all on the same stage and see what happens.

preferably a neutral site that pleases all feds. I'm up for anything anytime as long as it's fun I'm in.

Yeah, and Andrey's was a weight class higher. What's your point??

People are such fucking idiots. I love single ply lifting, I really do. I think the GENERAL standard of near record breaking lifts is better and more consistent. I'd love to try multiply lifting for the laugh tho, just to say I've done all the divisions.

And goddammit Charles' squat was below parallel. Call it like you see it, not on some notion of what you expect from the fed.

I also lift in the 275's, and I wanted nothing more then to come on here and see a mile high squat since this lift pushed mine a notch down on the lifter rankings. But I have nothing bad to say about that lift, it was deep, clean, and fast. Hell of a job! And this is coming from an USAPL lifter!

Good job Charles, and good attitude about the negative anonymous a-holes. This forum needs to change it's requirements so that you have to register with a real name to post. Would eliminate alot of the BS negativity and jealousy.

CONGRATULATIONS TO CHARLES BAILEY!!!

Great lifting big guy!

awesome lifting Charles, congratulations. kw

Nice Squatting! What kind of metal suit is that?? I wanted to try out a metal suit lately, but not sure which about any of them.

Great squat, Charles!

Damn Charles, very very nice lifting.
Please stay in the open class where you belong.

hey blue call me i found you a good truck driver that's ready to work.

Hey. You had an awesome day!! Congrats. It was very nice meeting you and watching you lift. Hope to see you in another meet.

hey anonymous, I did not call any names of who squat that I was talking about, so as far as andreys squat is concern it was indeed a good squat but not great, let's be real for a min..the guy is 300 plus pounds and probley did not even tripple his body weight in the squat.A good squat indeed in a single ply but not great..in all honesty the best single ply squat ever perform was by ED COAN...so as far as andreys squat never been match I think u need to check your powerlifting history before running your big mouth...in the real world andreys squat dont even make the top five in my book as far as squats are perform in a single ply...there are still 3 or 4 other squats over a 1000 that was done at a body weight of 275 or under captain curt being one of them and it was just as deep if not even deeper... lets not for get these guys in the early 90s and the late 80s that was stronger with less equipment then we were to day...all jokes aside lets be real for a min...and yes charles squat was a better squat..below parrel and deep....as far as deadlifting was concern I said nothing about that so were did that comment come from...

Andrey weighed under 300lbs. I think right around 295.

I want to thank your for admitting something. When you said,"lets not for get these guys in the early 90s and the late 80s that was stronger with less equipment then we were to day"...I think you were the first powerlifter in here of ANY stature to see this or admit it.

Keep up the freaky liftin'....Peace

Great job Big Dawg. The speed on te squat was amazing. You should have put some more plates on that bar.

Michael Schultze

I would hardly consider Malanichev to be very fat...lol

If we're going to be doing comparisons, its crazy to think that Belyaev only totaled 42lbs under Bailey!

That said, 1000lb squats are always good to see.

Realy cool squat man. You are getting stronger and stronger. Hope to see you at WPF worlds in Las Vegas, if not then the Fitexpo. Good luck to you man.
Sigfus.

Good job Big Man. I'd love to see you in the USAPL.

That squat was NOT high. Even the video (and the videos are usually lousy for showing squat depth) shows it to be of legal depth. Good job BIG DADDY!

hey charles
i have judje you lift at gpc worlds a couple of times and although you were high and bombed you really hit it on the nail this time great lifting buddy
glad to see you comming back stronger than ever a true warrior and i would have no problem passing that squat
reguards ipf and gpc catagory 1 referee

All three good clean lifts and looked he had more in the tank on everyone of them.

Great squat, this is coming from an IPF nazi that kinda understands the importance of a camera angle ;)
