APF Seniors Location Still Undetermined

(updated 8:21 pm)

Although not yet on the schedule, J.J. Thomas says that federation administrator Amy Jackson has indicated that the 2009 APF Senior Nationals will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada. WPC President Mike Sweeney has responded that a location has not yet been determined. WPC owner Kieran Kidder will be the meet director. The APF Senior Nationals are traditionally held around June.

I am glad my word is final, but I have read on the outlaw board that this may not be the case. I emailed Amy last night about this situation because Detroit Barbell is trying to host this meet in the Detroit metro area if we get the chance.

Is there a date?

Amy just emailed me, the meet is either in Florida or Vegas.

JJ Thomas

Jon, you are incorrect about this meet. If you have any questions about meet dates, locations and directors you should go the WPC site and look under the meets section.

FYI it looks like this meet will be in Florida. There is NO Vegas meet scheduled.

The APF is a not-for-profit entity. Garry Frank is the President, Mike McDaniel is the Vice President. I am a member of the Executive Committee. Stay Strong, J.R. Bolger, APF EC, State Chair, WPC referee

WHAT the fuck is wrong with the APF?

They can not even get a fucking location nailed down!?

What a bunch of shit! You guys just keep running the sport in the ground more.

Time to look for a new federation boys!

The APF did not release ANY information. Jon at powerlifting watch did. Stay Strong, J.R. Bolger

Powerlifting Watch is just reporting on what a prominent APF meet director and President of the WPC have said. The meet schedule provides no guidance whatsoever.

The title of the item has been changed to reflect the uncertainty of a meet location.

Mike Sweeney is the WPC President, not the APF's. As J. R. said that's Garry Frank. As far as I understand it Mike would not be the decision maker for APF matters. All I've heard or read from anyone from the APF is that it will be in Florida, which is great. I'd be fine with Vegas if there has been a change though. I've competed in Vegas 3 times and it's hard to beat. Great venues, good air rates and room rates, and tons of great entertainment!

"The APF. Often immitated, never duplicated!" I hope to see everyone at APF Seniors... where the Big Boys and Girls come to play; where ever it's held. It's THE MEET! And alway will be. To most it's always been the ultimate title to win!

Boys, I was just the passing on info from KK that day in response to a small post on another forum.................nothing more than that...

Poor communication = poor leadership.

We understand that the APF is a non-owned, not for profit entity and that KK is no longer the president. However, his name has come up several times in this thread, implying at least, that he still has a great deal of influence on the operations of the fed (Determination of major meet locations, etc).

Can anyone give an honest straightforward answer, once and for all, what is KK's current role (formal or otherwise) in the APF. Is he part of the executive committee? Is he just a promoter who's dollars hold sway? or what?

We hear a lot about what KK is not... But what IS he to the APF?

Obviously he is not "gone" from the APF.

I know that guys like JR and Garry are men of integrity and would respect their answers.

Kieran is part of the EC.

This is from the APF site:

"In addition to those offcials, the current APF Board includes Amy Jackson (secretary/treasurer), Kieran Kidder, Russ Barlow, Mike Sweeney, Lisa Wheeler, Ken Wheeler, J.R. Bolger, and Wayne Pullum."

Mike and Garry are also on the board.

Barlow is gone

Thanks for sharing your opinion, but that is all it is, YOUR OPINION, not everyone elses. Just because you come on here don't make it true , right or anyone elses opinion. It use to be something but as we all know, it is not the meet of the year any more. A lot of meets out there beat that one all day long. APF still has the same problems that it created for itself and now just making it worse by not answering the questions but hiding in the shadows instead. Playing people for fools about KK only does more harm, people knows he's the real OWNER and PRESIDENT.
